I know a lot of threads have been around about wedge bounce. I know the textbook def, but struggle to apply it. Stumbled on this video today and liked what I saw... Simple explanation

Bounce is all over a couple of the golf mags this month, in one mag this mostly down to Cleveland who are pushing some new wedges. If you look page 111 of GM there is a very simple and good explanation. Then page 118 and 119 are all about bounce, great explanation.

I understood it and then thought perhaps I have the wrong bounce and need some new wedges. Then I stopped and realised that is exactly what they want me to think. And in all honesty at my standard it makes chuff all difference.

Well done for seeing through the marketing. They'll get you with the next range of super spin, ultimate forgiveness pin seeking range though. :)

Of course it also helps when choosing a new wedge to know if you are a digger or a picker with your wedges as that will affect the amount of bounce you'll need. Also are you playing of tightly mown (links like) or a more grassy (parkland) lie

There's actually more than just the 2 styles.

Scratch identify 3 for the attack (Digger, Driver, Sweeper) and 2 for the action through impact (Driver. Slider). resulting in 20 'standard' grinds.

Here's their description of bounce. http://scratchgolf.com/bounce.html

Christ on a bike, no wonder people struggle to enjoy the game if there's 20 different grinds to worry about on your pitch shots.

I agree.. I bought my wedges off the shelf. Maybe I was lucky as on a good day, they seem to work well. On a bad day, they just behave like all their other cousins in the bag.. :p
