UK trip - 2 nights/3 rounds

We've just got back from Celtic Manor and played all 3 courses (RR, Monty and 2010) and 2 nights stay and it was £326 per person staying in the Manor House and included breakfast. If you can go midweek the same deal they offer staying in one of their Hunter Lodges (which sleeps 8 adults), 2 nights and 3 rounds of golf, worked out at £274 per person for golf and bed, i.e. no meals, but is fully contained and has SC facilities.

I probably spent around £450 in total adding in food, drink petrol etc. They've also started charging £5 to park there which is a complete p*** take. Very enjoyable though.

Why hasn't Leeds been mentioned?

Alwoodley, Ganton (less than an hours drive) and moortown.

Youll struggle to pkay 3 better courses, + Leeds is a great night out

The green fees for the 'big 3' in Bournemouth are all around £80+ per round and there is plenty of cheap accomm in the area so you should be fine with your budget.
Some other decent cheaper courses as well that may be of interest, mainly Meyrick Park and Knighton Heath. Isle of Purbeck isn't far away either just a pain to get to. Lots of people like Remedy Oak although it is a bit of slog to get round.

I was looking at Remedy Oak along with Broadstone and Parkstone.

When you say slog about Remedy Oak, just a long course or up and down/tough?

Remedy is pretty flat but it is long. The way it is laid out, you walk from the green to the next tee and walk past all the tees to get to the one you are playing from. So it means you are walking the full length of the course even if playing off forward tees. Plus there are a couple of walks from green to the next tee. Personally, I'd go for Ferndown over Remedy

Thanks very much! ;)

Greens at Ferndown are much better than Remedy. Played Remedy a few weeks ago, and it is a nice course, but the greens were poor/slow. It is a course that is growing on me though, and being so fit the long walks between greens and tees don't worry me.;)

Why hasn't Leeds been mentioned? The goal is wide open, is anyone going to take a shot?

Ha ha. Joking apart, can't argue with that. Moor Allerton is a smashing course as well if one of those three was booked out. There are lots of courses north of Leeds and towards York. You could spend a lot of days and be very happy playing them all.

Leeds area was mentioned by Phil in post #11

Done Leeds and those courses too. Agree with all the comments too, it's a fantastic place. I'm lucky enough to have played them a couple of times and wouldn't hesitate to go back. I just fancy something new this time.

you could do worse than sussex ,East sussex national [two courses there] Royal Ashdown ,great track and you wont need a sand iron. and plenty of decent B&B in the area.
