Apologies if this has been discussed before.

i am playing a 36 hole open next weekend. My hcp is currently 5.5 so I am close to moving between playing handicaps.

If I shoot a nett score 1 less than SSS in the morning should I "cut myself" to 5 based on SSS for the afternoon round?

If I play off 5 in the afternoon but then the CSS is set at one below the SSS what happens if I sign for a hcp of 5 when in reality I would be disadvantaged Since my actual hcp would still be 6?

Thanks in advance.

Any 2 round comps i have ver played, my handicap has stayed the same for both rounds, even if round 1 had earnt a cut.

No you should play off 6 both rounds.

Yeah HC stys the same throughout the comp.

I'm doing the same this sat, 36 holes in a day. First time I've done that since being a junior and still carrying my bag! Should be interesting.... Just hoping my Game Golf last the 2 rounds...

Excellent. If you weren't at the Scottish Open you will be pleased to find that the rough has been cut back in places. Apparently the European Tour didn't want it too tight for the pros!

Glad to hear it. Have a practice round tonight so will see for myself.

Because of the problems with second rounds started before first rounds finished it is recommended by CONGU that handicaps do not change for the second round (as others have posted)

However, it is not a rule and it has been known for committees to do it differently - just make sure with the organisers before setting out for the second round

We have a few 36 hole 1 day comps at our club, handicap stays the same for both rounds, a separate CSS is calculated for each round and any reductions or increases are applied after both rounds are omplete and the competition is closed.

Played ours yesterday, I can 3rd with a 39+35 = 74pts. Blobbed the last and the winner had 76, I had a shot on the hole aswell! ah well was good fun, although my legs are mega stiff today, glad its pissing down so a well earned rest day.
