Trump Loses Winfarm Challenge

Another blot on the landscape then, and in a busy shipping lane, pure madness.
Sorry bucket you have no idea, I am from Aberdeen and 99% of the locals wanted this,1 disgrace of a man who kept a **** tip and his mother in a caravan does not sway the argument, he is a disgrace who held out for a payday and did not get it, became disgruntled and is a eco hero? Don't make me laugh

Ha, good. I've just finished a university project on Trump's course, and how he treated the locals was awful to see. Seems like a right arrogant so and so.

If you based your project on the TV programme you will discover from here that the programme was biased and that in fact the vast majority of locals were absolutely in favour of the scheme and the jobs it will bring - through the new hotel and leisure complex as well as the golf course.

So what happend to the huge investment that was supposed to go into the Trump complex,it was built for a fraction what was originally intended, what happened to the promise of many jobs for the area when theres not many employed there at all.I think you will see Trump sell the course as a going concern with planning permission for the housing for profit. This I think you will find what the whole venture was about......

According to a bunch of golf enthusiasts on a golf forum anyway! :D

Just saying.... I have no way of knowing the truth. I do, however, agree with trump about windfarms.

Tashyboy fancy a weekend golfing where it's going to cost you a small fortune to play a couple of rounds up north where it will take you a day to get there and a day to get back. No not really.

Does anyone know if the plans for the windfarm were in place before or after Trump started building.

Nothing personal against the man himself but I really hope that the windfarm does go ahead. I know that they are useless in terms of generating the power we need and have to be heavily subsidised but it would at least give me several years work on the surveys for the installation.

It's not a windfarm as such it's a test bed for windfarm technology. Now, all that's needed now is to move all that pesky oil related shipping out of the way ;)

As a local, with knowledge of people involved in the programme, I can assure you that if it was biased, it was in favour of Trump.

The man is a despicable human being and his bully boy tactics were there for all to see and today will bring on the petty lip once more.

No doubt golfers with little regard for his ethics will provide trade for his course but the local feeling, amongst the golfing fraternity, is similar to the response he received from the old boy when he offered him money .... he can stick his course where the sun don't shine!

We have Royal Aberdeen, Murcar, Cruden Bay and many more top courses to enjoy within a few miles of his course, without the need to consider the morality of how the course we are enjoying, came into being.

When you do play on the course, as I am sure not everyone who plays golf is concerned for their fellow human beings, be sure to appreciate the large mound of earth he had dumped just to stop a neighbour enjoying the sea view whilst sipping his G & T.

This mound of course came at a price to Mr Trump as he lost a key member of staff, it was reported, due to the staff member being concerned with his fellow human beings and refusing to carry out the task.

The whole bringing jobs to the area was always a bit of a smoke screen anyway. The area has pretty much full employment so all that would happen is a flood of cheap labour on min wage. more than likely Eastern Europeans like most of the hotel staff in the UK at the moment. The construction company was Irish and employed Irish workers, also the back up staff. No doubt a couple of Scots to give that authentic feel for the American Visitor in the front of House Opps. I ve heard a few times that the locals are 100% behind it, i cant say ive spoken to any that are myself and i deal with a few Aberdeen based Companies.

Seen a mention from one of the guys at a certain Scottish based golf mag (think being stuck in a sand based hazard) that there are rumours that Trump has withdrawn his planning application for the second course in Aberdeenshire now that he's got Doonbeg.

That would be an obvious 'rumour'!

And might be a face-saving two-finger salute to the Scottish Government. Or might be the wrong thing to do to 'protect our investment' in that particular development!

My, admittedly fairly ignorant, thoughts are that they are 2 completely separate projects and Doonberg will not affect the Aberdeen development and he will keep them that way - though he might find a 2nd cousin who drinks Guinness to claim he's 'coming home' there as well! I suspect the 2nd course will stall a little though.

@shewy has the complete opposite view of the feelings of the locals.

I kinda sit on the fence when it comes to the whole Trumpy debate. The man is quite obviously a complete and utter cretin and a vile individual. Have spoken to a couple of people who have had dealings with him and have had nothing good to say about him or any people connected with his organisation.

I get the feeling he'll be like a complete primary school kid now and pick up his ball and not play. That appears to be what he's threatened to do by saying he won't build the hotel and the second course and will instead pour all his money into Ireland.

I stand by my prediction that Trump International Golf Links Scotland will be closed or Trump will have no involvement with it, within 10 years. If he doesn't build the hotel and all that then the Yanks won't come and once all the locals have played it once or twice then they wont bother going back.

However, he appears to have given us a wonderful golf course and does propose further investment in the area. It's just that in this part of the world we won't be ridden over roughshod just because some syrup wearing American prat says so.

Actually typing this post, it appears that I dont sit on the fence at all. To be honest, I think it's Trump's personality that has swayed so many people against him, that and the fact he feels he has to put his name to everything. It's not even a nice name.

I agree, I guess the yanks don't have the same meaning of the word trump as we had growing up, perhaps a Brit should head over to the states and open Fart International Golf Club and see how well the name goes down!

As daft as it sounds the name is probably another black mark against the course ever fulfilling Trump's vision/dream of hosting The Open, even if he somehow managed to get the Royal prefix (which sounds even funnier)

Get it in Chicago. Fart International in the Windy City
