True loft???

Here's a list of some 7 irons that I have picked out.

Taylormade Rocketbladez - 30.5 degree
Burner 2.0 - 31 degree
Rocketbladez Tour - 33.75 degree
Taylormade R9 TP - 35 degrees
Ping i20 - 33 degree
AP2 714 - 34 degree
Nike Pro Combo - 35 degree

So which is the true loft?

Whatever the manufacturer believes will work best with the clubheads other playing characteristics - mainly a combination of launch angle and spin.

Jacked lofts are an important, even vital, issue for social media that fades into insignificance on the course.

So there is no such thing as a jacked loft then???

Only when you wish to slate a manfactuers latest release?
Its not quite as straight forward as loft on the club face, launch angle and flight all have a bearing the idea being that the top of the flight should be fairly close for all clubs.

Don't think I've ever seen a spec sheet that showed weight, swingweight maybe but not actual weight.

Not quite sure where the last link got 233gms from 240+ is the norm on other specs I've seen.

The 7gm difference is universal though.

There are some sets made slightly lighter/heavier to compensate for significant length differences - I knew a 6'10" Pro who used +1.75" shafts!

bounce angle is different to loft angle smartarse !

I know that. Not following the smart arse comment though? Just saying I wouldnt have thought about it changing the bounce but a club builder should know to grind 2 degree off once he's opened the loft

I read somewhere about clubs / irons being designed by measuring the Moment of inertia as opposed to different weights/ lengths etc.
Anyone heard of this.

I thought you were winding me up. apologies. if he is a club builder then he probably could do that although this will probably change the swing weight that Mr Vokey has worked so hard to achieve.

I will not be re-sculpting my Vokey's LOL so no worries there. My 58 is one of the clubs I feel most confident with and I've holed and made some fantastic shots with it this season so I will probably go 50,54,58

I rock the CG16's and they stamp lofts on the bottom,

4iron 21 deg
PW 44 deg

it is effectively a 3-9iron set............ but the fact they tell you the lofts meant it took me minutes to get the matching wedges! :) 50-54-58 :)

If they did adopt this, I wonder what they would do if they tweaked the loft by 1 or 2 degrees (stronger or weaker), which they do sometimes when custom fitting the clubs....would they re stamp the loft?

This, I think, is the main reason lofts don't get stamped on irons
Any change via Custom fit and it's false info....
And the distance a club will hit the ball is also determined by the weighting in the head and the length of the shaft, not just the loft...
Half an inch on the shaft of a 7 iron and you have a 6 1/2 iron.....
