My view of pull trolleys is that if you are prone to back problems, don't use one - particularly if the course is hilly. If you think about it, you are walking for 3/4/5 hours with one arm out behind you, back twisted and pulling. It can't possibly be doing your game or back any good.

In many ways I prefer to carry particularly on bounce games but also enjoy using my Motocaddy as it takes all the strain especially on our hillier course. I tried a friend's Powercaddy for a few weeks but imho Motocaddys are far sturdier, quieter and parts, if needed, far cheaper and easier to replace.

Usual disclaimers apply!

better players don't carry there bags, they get caddy's to do it for them.

I use a pull trolley and find the benefit on the back nine.
Can't justify the cost of a power-caddy.

I've always thought that unless underfoot conditions dictate otherwise, you'd be nuts to carry your bag. It's a bit like asking the horse to carry the cart rather than pull it!

I use a carry bag in the winterest months only and then cut down to 7-8 clubs max.

Otherwise, it's a 3-wheeler trolley for me. Incidentally, a 3-wheel push is LOADS better for you than a 2-wheel pull. Given that you can pick up a decent 3-wheeler for about £30, why cause yourself shoulder/back issues when you don't need to?

Steve - get yourself a trolley and ignore the comments. I'm a fit and strong young(-ish!) bloke and I want to use a trolley. As someone else said, the day you see Woods carrying his own bag in a tournament, then you can feel like a jessie.

Had a golfing holiday a few years back in South Africa. We had caddies (local lads) on some of the courses and while chatting to one about golf in England he was genuinely amazed that we carried our own bags when we played. I later realised that I had probably shattered his dream of making a living here as a caddie.

Don't worry yourself about it too much.

He'll probably be a major winner in 20 years time and will dedicate his first trophy to the English bloke that shattered his dreams about being a caddie in blighty when he was a kid.

Stranger things have happened.

Although a dedicated carrier I have no problems with guys wanting to use trolleys. They have never held me up in comps etc and if it makes the game more enjoyable then whats the problem.

I have to admit I like the look of the Powakaddy stuff and maybe in a few years time might just find myself adding that to my Christmas list

Im with homer on this. I carry but have no problem if people want to use trolleys, I would probably use one if it would fit in the boot!!

i love being able to just throw the bag in and out of the boot of my car, to be honest i would not be able to fit a trolley in my car.

Powakaddy is the way forward!!!

Why do you think ALL the young golfers in the EGU development programme are advised to get a powakaddy. Nuff said.

I'm a recent convert to trolleys.....always carried before, but I tended to play golf in fast 2 balls. Now I'm joining up with 4 balls at my new club, they all have trolleys.
I bought a £9.99 special, but would like to upgrade, something smooth (wheels) and good for a medium bag (don't have a fat staff bag).
Can anyone recommend a top notch pull trolley??

When not using the wife's GoKart, I use a push trolley (find it easier than pulling (insert pun here)). Have a Powakaddy Twinline 3 and have found it reliable, stable and smooth to run. Having proper wheels with bearings in makes a real difference.

Twinline 3 looks damn fine. I just looked at the powakaddy site and searched for the nearest stockist...

My pro! at my course......I think I'd better take some "folding" down at the weekend.

A lot of the kids at my course have powered trolleys. Since over half of them are over weight, some seriousy over weight, they should be made to carry. It is wrong to be lazy and fat aged 14. They need the exercise, and walking along being dragged by a trolley is not enough.

Disagree Clubchamp. Wife has had one for a year now and it is superb. It is light, folds in seconds, battery just clips in, it is sturdy, has no problems with the roughest and hilliest terrain, the customer service is second to none and, just as importantly, it is designed and built in the UK. It has now won several design awards, voted third best trolley by TG and for £199.00 really is a bargain. GoKarts may look different but do not knock them until you have tried one.
