I currently carry my clubs. My coach has been on at me about using a Powacaddy. Quote "Spend hours working on your swing and then lose your flexibility through a round due to carrying your clubs"
Plus I froze my ass off at Drumoig on Sunday, due to the lack of jumper/waterproof space in my stand bag.

Anyway, I have received a very nice gift of a TM R7 Tour Bag. It's stunning, and a monster.

Can't decide whether to keep the Tour bag merely for looking at, or become a "big jesse" and get a Powacaddy.

As always I look to the forum for guidance!

My mizuno tourbag is too heavy these days to carry and play 18 good holes of golf so its relegated to only being used with the trolley. I bought a standbag this week and its so much lighter even when I have a couple items of clothing stuffed into it including a full compliment of clubs, balls and drinks. Double straps make it a doddle to wear and finished 18 on Sunday with no aches or strains and was able to walk straight into the locker room without having to clean any trolley etc.

Split the difference and get a 3 wheel push trolley(Powercaddy do those too if it suits). I gave up carrying a bag pretty quick after I realised carrying it was pushing adrenelin into muscles I would need to be relaxed 45 seconds later

I know a lot of you guys like to carry which is fair enough. For me though, if I want a route march i'll buy a Karrimor and go for a yomp across Exmoor.

Cheap two wheeler at the moment- better three wheeler to follow in time.

I wouldn't get a power caddy, i do however use a pull trolley, when the conditions are bad in the winter i use hedgehogs (cruel i know). My reason is the course i play is very hilly and by the end if you carry you will be too knackered to swing a club. Also paying to see a physio to get back problems sorted to then go and put strain on it with my clubs seems like a bad idea.

I used to carry but found my golf has improved since using the trolley

My handicap has came down from 3.8 and now sits at 1.6 since I got the robokaddy. In only a year and a half.
The proff must be in the pudding somewhere.

I generally use a pull trolley but bought my wife a GoKart to use last year. Have nicked it occasionally when feeling a bit lazy and it is great. If it were not for the grief I would get on the course from my mates I would use it more often (get enough hassle for not carrying).

If you are looking for a motorised trolley, give Gokart a look. They are cheaper, in my opinion they look better and their warranty and customer service is second to none. Any problems and they pick it up and give you a loaner until they can deliver it back repaired. Plus they are designed and built in the UK.

As usual, wish to point out that I have no connection to this company except as a customer.

Why is there a stupid ego thing about carry. I have often been told (sorry for the p-word) "only poofs use trolley's" by certain people.

I use a trolley becuase of my back problems, I could carry but would be in a lot of pain after a while.

Also as CC07 says his handicap has come down since using a trolley, it raises a good point.

When we are fatigued our concentration levels dip. If using a trolley reduces fatigue it can only be a good thing for ones game.

I have no gripe with those that carry, fair-play to them, it is just the minority of carriers who would rather have a broken back than use a trolley for fear of damaging their self image of macho-men.

I do both, so can't vote for either. Use my Hillbilly when/where I can, but if going straight from work or similar take my carry bag as I usually get a lift so its about 50:50 for me. I would recommend having a trolley of some sort, like Hapless says, get a pull along and then move up from there if it suits.

It's quicker by (pull) trolley!
By about the 13th/14th a lot (and I know there are exceptions) of 'carriers' slow to a crawl. Equally, for some strange reason, the possession of a power trolley doesn't seem to impart a brisk pace - and boy are they slow when the battery's running down.

I carry, but because it is less hassle to assemble, quieter (apart from the clanking), faster, more direct, etc. On the other hand I am fit (I run for 3 hours a week), and the only back problems I have come from my swing, not carrying. I find most electric trolleys don't go fast enough for me, there are limits to where you can take them on the course (which slows things down) and they require charging and cleaning, which I would forget.

Pull trolleys are the worst of both worlds, as they do put pressure on my back due to twisting to pull it or push it. I find a dual strap bag more comfotable.

I used to belong to the carry at all costs brigade until I went to a Society Day 36 holer and my mate lent me his Motokaddy.

Within the week I had bought one and I swear by it. You can get everything in it that you could possibly need, the bag is specifically made for the trolley so it doesn't keep twisting round and by the end of the round I usually feel as fresh as I started.

I'm not old or infirm (only 38 and I to go to the gym everyday, running circuits etc) but I would not change it for the world.

As for being too slow, I set it to the fastest pace and can only just keep up with it, I tend to walk down the first cut, so as not to cause any damage, but with the winter wheels this is not an issue any way.

One last thing that is a bit girly is the nice umbrella holder that I have, so you dont even need to carry yr brolley, and it keeps all the clubs dry as well.

I carry when I HAVE to,otherwise if the course is really wet I find it easier to pull rather than have the powercaddy skidding all over the place on slopes.Personaly I find the real benefit of power in summer when/if it`s hot, just set it to walking pace leaves you hands free & cool/ish.

I got an electric trolley last year and wish I had done it earlier. I play off 3.7 and thought pridefully that "better" players carry their bags, and that I couldn't be seen with a trolley.

What an idiot.

My shoulders, legs and feet now feel fine after a game, as opposed to being stiff and sore like before.
