I think electric trolleys should be BANNED !!!!! .........
......... in winter when the courses are sodden I get in a rage when I see selfish golfers digging up tee aprons and busy walkways at this time of year. I have a PK but will not use it if the going is anything other than good to firm. My course gets in a right mess with the selfish B'stard brigade every winter. I played on Sunday and it was a right mud bath and we were still in October.

I used to prefer carrying. No need to worry about "trolleys this way" signs that take you half a mile out of your way. Nowadays with lightweight bags and comfotable straps it's pretty easy. Had to start using a trolley though when a dodgy back caught up with me. If you are fit enough, carry. There's plenty of time later to pull a trolley around.

I'm with you there Andy - the trolly's certainly do make a state of some courses in winter but they are very much a part of the game now - by banning them there would be a large percentage of players taken out of the game at winter leading to a whole new debate.
Perhaps certain trolly routes to follow in winter? Not feasible on all courses but I know it would help on our course.

Ok if it's looking like it may be awry one but starts off ok I will tend to use a trolley as brolly and waterproofs tend to make a carry bag heavy. Also my trolley bag is more waterproof than my lighter carry bag so clubs tend to stay dryer. With that said my current trolley is kn the repair shop at the moment and the last game I had was wet and I carried. It was funny because as stated in the thread elsewhere slot of greens had " trolleys this way" which didn't apply to me. I actually enjoyed carrying and if reminded me of exactly why I carried as a kid when I used to caddy

One thing to keep in mind if you're buying, at this time of the year a lot of courses (at least the ones with sense) ban electric trolleys, and will only allow push / pull trolleys, some even demand they're fitted with hedgehogs.

It's really quite simple. When was the last time you saw Tiger, Westwood etal carry their own clubs. If they felt there was an advantage to carrying their own clubs they would do it.

Nah any noodles or pinnacles I find, I chuck em away.
I will carry in the winter once the inevitable bans come into place and to be honest they do make winter golf quicker as trolley users are normally shepherded off miles from the greens and tee and so it does take longer to get to the ball. However, particularly in a comp I want to be sure I'm not going to get caught out so will always carry waterproofs, spare towel and gloves and usually a cap to keep any rain off my glasses. The bottom line is that is too much to comfortably carry and focus on the game properly.
How does it? Unless you don't take the bag off while swinging?
During the winter a carrybag, half dozen balls, clubs and jacket fiesntvweufh that much. I carry my full summer gear during the winter as it really isn't a hardship, I don't come off the course on all fours neither.

I can't make up my mind which I prefer. Carrying is probably my no.1 choice but I tend to skimp on drinks, snacks and a club or two.

I use an electric trolley unless I can make my carry-bag VERY light (half-set, no clothing etc). Not so much the tiredness, but lifting & dropping the bag screws up my shoulder.

I have carried all summer, my bag has split due to the amount of unused clothing I carry. It has helped my health due to the good exercise but my new electric baby is on the way soon to make my life easy and the golf better.

I have an electric trolley with a cart bag, 5 carry bags and a pencil bag. I mix and match according to circumstance. I like carrying, but my back can play up. I medal electric. No questions. Soon, the pencil bag will be king, as in the winter a half set rocks.

I don't complain about 20 pairs of shoes, or dozens of handbags....

Yeh,i use my powakaddy through the summer months,you can pack it with drinks,food etc,but i do carry during the winter, keeps you warm and its exercise as well.....
I carry in winter and push trolly in summer. Most guys up here carry, but i was a member of a club in hertfordshire for a couple of months when i first started and everyone used a trolly there.
