Tour Caddy Experience - Thoughts

Absolutely, a pro should never step on another pros territory unless welcomed. That's where we differ none of us a pro golfers! Thanks for your comments though, maybe show your pro our website and if he wants to email me I'll welcome any questions.
Thanks again chris

Seems like the club might welcome it and have to cut the deal with the pro, as the opportunity is one that would be very useful IMO and interesting, this might mean going to play golf at a new club where the experience is approved.

what reason is there for the pro to even know though.

Turn up and play your round with someone walking round with you. Just because he's a tour caddy is irrelevant in my opinion.

Better to be straight with the clubs and let them decide if they want to endorse it or refuse it, clubs that endorse it can use it to bring more golfers in, some clubs do not need more golfers.

Sneaking on, well you will be found out eventually and when one club knows, all clubs know and that is not exactly good pr

Exactly this.

Most of us will have experience of someone walking round with us, watching every shot and offering advice on what we did wrong and how we could do better anyway.
It just happens that this person is normally playing off 20 and has been chopping it round alongside you all day!

I am available to do that job. :smirk:

That is very true but we are not in this to upset anyone, we don't want to be sneaking on and off the course and ultimately getting the member or caddie in trouble, even though it's not a lesson we want to do this professional with everyone involved happy. 👍🏻

Anyone seen anything about this?

A number of European Tour Caddies are starting to offer a caddy experience, whereby they effectively teach you better course management etc. They'll also do a report afterward etc.

Personally i think its a brilliant idea, but i'd only be interested in doing it at my home course. As i low handicapper i always think i can knock shots off a higher handicappers game by getting them to think logically about what they are doing, so I can only guess at the impact these guys could have on our games.

The prices are pretty reasonable IMO (£200 for 18 holes, £450 for a 3 ball to do 18 holes).

David Howells caddy seems instrumental in its beginning.

I agree with your sentiment on looking at higher handicaps and thinking I could help them do better if they thought better, but a lot of the time they simply don't have the skill to hit it where they need to.
Out of interest what do you think you would gain from it? You play well inside the top 5% of golfers in the UK. surely you must be able to plot your way around a course? Especially your own. If you were to put the time in that the pro caddys do "mapping a course" out for their pro don't you think you could score reasonably well on any given day at any course? I get how these guys are a very important part of their pros game when they are playing a different course every weekend but if you're mainly playing the same course every week what do you think the benefit of getting a caddy experience would be,
It would be a good experience to do but a bit to pricey IMO.

Hi Garush34

Out of about the 15-20 experiences I've done so far there has only been 3 single figure golfers, if you want to log on to the website and scroll to bottom of the home page and read completed experiences ( this is something new I've just added to the site, and the other completed experiences have said they will send there testimonials over weekend) the 2 that have sent there's so far we're a 21 and 20 handicap.
Have a read and I'd be interested to hear your thoughts afterwards. Thanks again for you comment, all comments are taken on board. I hope you keep improving and shooting around the 80 mark.
Cheers

For me I mean handicaps of 5 or below. Yeah I know there is still a big gap between them and professional but the difference between me and them is also great. There is definitely something I can learn from and something I already have, which will help me improve my game and hopefully get me to where I want to be handicap wise.

Im pretty sure lol that some of these caddys know a thing or two about golf, they may even be low handicappers

Any tour caddies up in Scotland signed up?

Please ignore just checked and yes there's one near me David Kenny signed up

No doubt some of them are great golfers in their own right, I never said they weren't. All I was saying is for me I have learnt a lot from playing weekly with a 3 handicapper. And yeah I could probably learn a lot more with one of these caddies because that's what its about, I would have the chance to ask questions etc. Where as now, I don't ask questions I have just observed and learned a lot.

Hi, it sounds like a great idea and a great way to experience what it would be like to have a caddie. At first I didn't know any of the caddies you have signed up by name, but scrolling through the list and who they've all worked with I know most of them. Overall I think the idea is great but just for me the cost is a lot and one that I personally wouldn't consider, purely based on the cost factor. If it was given to me as a gift them certainly I would jump at the chance to do it and it would be great, especially around my home course it would be great.

Just out of interest do you guys do any prior research of the course you are going around with the client or is it just worked out on the day? As my course doesn't have any course planners or anything available like that so just wonder how you would approach it?

Also I suppose another factor for me being a higher handicap I would fear that I wouldn't be as consistent shot wise to actually pull off all the shots, that's why I think lower handicaps my gain more from the experience which could possibly help them cut those last few shots that can be harder to gain at that level.
