Im currently getting pestered by the relatives about what I would like for Christmas. Now that I have got myself convinced that Golf is back for good im thinking of asking them to club together and get an electtric trolley. Not decided which one but most likely Motocaddy S3 or one of the powacaddy range.
I have also always liked the idea of a tour bag to go with it and have my eye on one of the Callaway tour bags.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience of the two together. I see from Motocaddy site that they say all bags will fit but large tour bags may be a tight squeeze but not quite sure what that means in real terms. Im not bothered about not having use of all the pockets and would expect some of them being out of use. I see that powacaddy do tour bags specific for their trolleys but I like the idea of a callaway bag to go with my clubs.

Any experiences would be appreciated.

I know someone who has the latest Callaway tour bag on a powakaddy classic legend and it fits no problem at all. It looks good as well. I don't think it would fit on the Powakaddy Highway for example though.

In terms of trolleys I have a hillbilly terrain. Can't recommend it really, unless your course drains extremely well. There is insufficient clearance for the front wheel (about 1/2"), which then gets packed out with leaves and mud. Not good for use in England, especially after the summer we have just had). Worth bearing in mind when you select a trolley.

I would still go for a dedicated cart bag over a tour bag.

For what it's worth I think you're doing the right thing QW.
I bought my trolley and bag seperately and now have to wrestle with both to securely fasten the bag to the trolley.
Last year Motocaddy were selling the S3 with a free cart bag. I know someone who bought one. The bag was rock solid on the cart.

I generally fix my stand bag to my trolley which means its fixed onto the trolley sideways, resulting in the pockets on one side of the bag being inaccessible.

A little tip which may help standbag owners usings carts. If there is a metal ring top rear of bag (quite common) DIY stores sell 3M 12" Velcro straps which you keep permanently fastened to the ring and loop around the nearest post on your cart - rock solid

I've got a Motocaddy S1 and a Ping tour bag. It is a tight fit against the frame of the trolley the normal may round, but I've found that mounting it sideways is better as it fits better and gives better access to the pockets as a tour bag tends to have pockets front and back rather than on the side.

I've just purchased a Go-Kart 'leccy trolley together with a Callaway "weekender 14" cart bag, and the two go very nicely together.
The bag is plenty big enough, although maybe not quite as large as a "tour" bag. It has more than enough pockets to keep everything in, a handy 14 way divider to keep all the clubs seperate and a handy built in brolly holder too!
Well chuffed, and my knees are looking forward to the rest

There are a range of tourbags coming onto the market from various manufacturers that include pockets that are accesable from the front so that the bag can be accessed without turning. I Can Mount my DalyGolf Tourbag on the S1 without any problems & can just about access the rear pockets without too much fuss.
