Ok, another lesson thread.

What's the toughest change you've made in your swing. The thing that has drove\driven you insane trying to get it right ?

AND, What finally made it click for you (if it ever actually did) ?

Mine is weight transfer. I've always had problems shifting my weight forward in the down swing which results in me hitting a lot off my back foot. Losing power, fats, thins, slice etc.

I've been working on it for the past couple of months with my pro and tried all sorts of drills etc to try to get it to stick. You'd think it would be easy, take the club to the top of the back swing, shift your weight to the left and start the down swing. Oh no, I just couldn't do it. Not even in slow practice swings !!!

I've only literally this week been able to do it consistently (well do it more than not), but of course now it's completely messed up my timing.

My pro said that my other method was so ingrained that it could take 6 months for me to get this to feel natural.

Getting rid of my out-to-inny.

Still not 100% there and will probably haunt me again this year.

I know what I have to do, and I know how to do it, but actually doing it is another thing entirely.

+ 1

Also my ridiculous weight movement to my right foot causing me to thin or fat every shot. That's why I'm trying to understand s&t at the mo.

swing plane/hip rotation... its the cause of my out to in swing path apparently (according to my pro), when I get it right its a nice draw/straight, the only trouble is thats about 1 in 20 attempts at the mo

January is the start of my range madness month to ingrain a couple of things

Keepimng my left shoulder down during my downswing. I have a bad tendancy to play a cover drive when teeing off and this causes a slice. Turn the shoulder not lift it. I still have to remind myself about 3 times during a round. All comes from cricket and all those runs I scored in my dreams.

I've a block of lessons booked for the new year, I'm anticipating a major change to my swing plane, after years of swinging flat I need to increase the height of my swing plane and learn to cool the rotation of my right wrist through the impact area

I remember trying to flatten out my upright swing about 8 months in
Not too bad compared to the other way thought I suspect

Weight shift and casting... I can still do both but it's on it's way out... It's taken a very long time!

Moving the ball forward in my stance.

To be fair, it is the only thing I have been asked to change, and I am making a poor fist of it. Very poor. Thin is not the word, and if I middle it, rare, then left, and more left. With some hook.

Gosh, there are some keen people on here. Swing changes?? Not sure I've ever made any (intentional) changes and I don't do lessons so no reason to really. I just can't devote the time that would be needed to iron out the numerous flaws in my grip, posture, swingplane etc. I just stick with what I've got which may be good, bad or mostly average on the day.

To broaden out the original question slightly though, the hardest thing I have learned is to forget about the hole or holes already gone and concentrate on the next shot......every time. Not there yet but much better than I used to be and I don't think anyone will score really low, especially under pressure, unless they can do this.

Currently 6 months into a swing rebuild. Hardest part is getting the takeaway right and natural. I'm about 60% there, but it's very hard work. The carrot is that I'm seeing consistency and better ball flight. It's far easier to get right on the small clubs, but hard on the long sticks.

Some quite interesting responses. Quite a few out to in's and weight transfer's.

Interesting because my pro has diagnosed my out to in swing plane being caused by me not transferring my weight correctly and coming over the top.

I actually strung about 5 good ones one after the other this afternoon where I actually got my weight forward and timed the strike right.

What a different feeling that was. Club was getting right into the back of the ball and compressing it into the mat resulting in a very slight draw and a really penetrating flight. They shot off like a bullet from a gun.

I used to hit my 7i 150 carry, I was flying the 150 yard marker by a good 20-30 yards on the good ones this afternoon.

Its the feeling I'm looking for. Knowing what a 'good one' feels like. Once I get that then I know I'm getting there.

I'm currently working at eliminating an out to in and it ain't easy at all, plenty winter range work lies ahead for me

Weakening my left hand grip. I've a really strong left hand grip and was once told that if I had six knuckles on that hand they would all be on top of the grip. Its getting better but it's taken ages to get it to feel more comfortable and being able to trust it on the course.

Funny one this. I find sticking with one thing hard. I find it to easy to make swing changes, I just think what I want to do and do it. Ok some will say wish I could do that. Belive me you dont. Its hard to stick/ groove with a swing.
