Well done Tim , respect to you for coming along and also for proposing such a fun side bet.

Fun?? Fun?? What's going to be fun about it when he bombs one 400 yards and we have to take out a second mortgage!!!! :o :D :D

Very much looking forward to it.

As an aisde, I've proposed a sub challenge. Taking my longest drive of the day, for every 1 yard beyond 300 that I reach, everyone donates £1. For every yard short of 300 that I reach, I donate £5.

Got to hand it to you Tim, you're a confident chap, if not a bit of an ego-maniac :D

Just to let you all know, Tim has signed up for the Help for Heroes day and paid his deposit.

I think after all the stick he has received, this is a brave and admirable move, and I for one am looking forward to meeting him.

He has asked if it is OK to play in a mask.... :o  :D :D

Well done Tim!! :)

fair play, wouldnt want your first tee nerves tim.... lol

Holy Cow! I forgot all about this, and didn't measure a single drive with any accuracy. The only one I did was a quick glance back with the range finder on the slight uphill 544 8th (measured against the bin located next to the tee - but I can't remember it's exact position in relation to the tee), and that was 290 yards. The best guess would be just that, a guess.

Perhaps GB72 and Sweatysocks could guestimate?

It would be innaccurate to give a figure as it would be a guess, however On the longest Par 5 Tim did hit Driver and 4 iron to within 10 yards of the green. As GB72 pointed out in another thread both myself and him had to hit full blooded drives, decent 3 woods and a wedge to get to the green on the same hole.

I don't think it would be fair to say a figure for your contributions however I'm sure Rick would be grateful for any donation you would care to contribute.

I should point out that Tim did contribute greatly in driving up the price of the Ryder Cup Flag - I believe he finally threw in the towel when his £380 bid was beaten. The reaction from the winning bidder was priceless - I think he thought Tim was going to bid again. :D

I think I only hit one other drive better than that, but didn't take a measurement. So giving a little margin for error, lets say my longest drive was 285. So that's 15 yards x £10 per yard = £150 donation from me.

I agree that this is a very fair assessment. Also need to take into account that Tim used a 3 wood for much of the day (which he also hit further than my drives and those of Sweatysock). Big round of applause for his bidding up the prices on a number of auction items (pity he did not win any). I agree that people should make there own mind up if they want to make a donation to a very worthwhile cause.

I for onm voting for an end to the whole Tim 'Huge' Golfy thing. He came out yesterday and showed that there is far more to his game than an big drive and hit some iron shots that anyone would be more than proud of as well as showing a useful touch around the green. I thought that giving him a 16 handicap was pretty harsh but he nearly played to it over the back 9 yesterday.

Since no figures were available and as Tim is being so generous. And because I was unable to attend I'll donate £50.
Who do I send it too and how?

Gill

Very generous mate. If you look at a post from RickG there is a link to the direct giving site then you just click on the donate option and fill in your card details. Do not forget to check to allow gift aid.

That's smashing, Gil.

Looking forward to the next meet now (and I promise I'll stop topping the ball if murph agrees too!)

Donation made.
Well done to all who took part, hopefully I'll get together with some of you in future events.

As you are only in Derby, are you going to the centenary event at Breadsall Priory.

Will be on holiday I'm afraid. Although the thought of playing Breadsall again is not something I like the idea of. I've always thought it a Micky Mouse course.
