I reckon it was some form of social experiment........

Take a normal, placid 'society' - scratch below the surface and watch humanity crumble.

TimG used the catalyst of long drives to bring us down. Maybe he knew that, deep down, we all want to be the longest in our clubs and he kept searching until we found the answer.

I've got the conch so I'm talking now......

Inspired :D

Hey Tim, Have you seen the arrange a game section? There's a Help for Heroes Charity day arranged at Luton Hoo for Monday June 6th.....fancy it?

Nice long course, 6810 yds....would suit you. There's a 271 yd par 3 that no-one managed to drive last year....not even 2 pro's!!

You'd be most welcome.

Why?

Because somebody could use multiple usernames to unfairly promote a point of view/scam.

Specifically in the case of Timgolfy, I fell for it and asked him some questions - that just makes me look like a knob. I may be a knob, but I don't like highlighting the fact.

Cos now you don't look like a knob at all ......

I don't actually think it was intended as a wind up, I think he honestly believes what he said. Granted he might have been having a bit of fun once he saw the reaction but I honestly think he came here with a fundamental belief that he could get to scratch by learning to hit it long

Just to let you all know, Tim has signed up for the Help for Heroes day and paid his deposit.

I think after all the stick he has received, this is a brave and admirable move, and I for one am looking forward to meeting him.

He has asked if it is OK to play in a mask.... :o  :D :D

Well done Tim!! :)

great stuf Tim & I for one will be rooting for you to bomb your drives all day , good luck man , gona b interesting posts after that outing ..

Very much looking forward to it.

As an aisde, I've proposed a sub challenge. Taking my longest drive of the day, for every 1 yard beyond 300 that I reach, everyone donates £1. For every yard short of 300 that I reach, I donate £5.

I'm not playing in the event but will gladly enter into the spirit: and donate £1 per yard over 300yds.
Plus, £10 per hole featuring a drive over 320yds.

Who will be the official measurer?

PS - someone will have to remind me of this, I'm both tight and forgetful.

Hope you don't top it round under all this pressure!
