Timgolfy - time to come clean!

I don't see why anyone should ever have his user name and real name blown open.

Why are people asking to know who he is? If he's offended you personally then report it to a mod otherwise you can join in on his threads or not.

If he chooses to attend a forum meet then those who attend will find out "who" he is.
Well said it is none of our business who he is , if he makes a post & you dont wana read or reply then dont .. i dont think it would be in anybodys intrest if any of the mods could release peoples identity . sure he doesnt know who we are , just my opinion ..

But it does become an issue if this is somebody who already has another forum registration
why if he/she does not abuse the forum rules , forum is bit of fun wit good conversation & good advice if you want it .. we all have different opinions on stuff thats what makes it what it is.. moderators are there to make sure WE all obey the rules & from what ive seen on my short time on here they do a good job ..

Why?

Because somebody could use multiple usernames to unfairly promote a point of view/scam.

Specifically in the case of Timgolfy, I fell for it and asked him some questions - that just makes me look like a knob. I may be a knob, but I don't like highlighting the fact.

Iam am with the people who suggest that we should not be wound up by his posts.

Never judge a sausage by looking at the skin!

I was talking in general terms about the use of more than one username. Certainly other forums that I visit have very stringent rules about this. I understand that everybody is entitled to a PoV, but why should they be able to post two conflicting PoV's under two usernames?

I didn't suggest that there was a scam in any of Timgolfy's post.

What was his other username, and, did that other person always go on about how short they were off the tee?

Totaly accept that you werent suggesting that & i apologise if you thought i did .. would anybody be sad enough to post conflicting posts or pov ?what would there be to gain from this ?why would someone bother ? am i been too trusting ? :D

I don't know what his other username is. Who knows.

:D

Then why do you accuse us :D of using two usernames and two points of view.

so without tim being here everyone is still at eachothers throats....

I take it back, the guy is a legend.

I think its clear that peoples views on this forum are far to serious compared with other forums ive visited(non golf related). Who cares if he has 100 names, as long as he is no commercial spamming than it doesnt matter.

One thing thats makes this forum so good is the fact that no doubt there are users on here that work within the golf industry, but they dont choose to spam their work place, which is someone loads of forums fail on. Theres only one company/product on here that is really pushed, but in my eyes it comes with a proven track record and isnt available in lots of shops, so its no issue. Its when price wars start through members spamming their own products that problems start.,

Hang on a second, I'm not accusing anybody of anything.

I apologise. I read your earlier post as saying he was using two names and saying conflicting things. I merely wondered who the other name was?
I take it that this is not what you meant when talking about two different username and PoVs?

I've seen no evidence of having multiple accounts on this forum, and wouldn't have thought there was until this issue arose.

From other forums, I've seen the discord that this can cause from malicious members.

I'm not implying that there is any of that here.

:)

Sorted - to be honest, I'm so poor with computers I wouldn't have known it was possible to have two, or to prove it if someone did have two usernames!

The thing is most people wouldn't even consider having two registrations - if you have something to say then you say it under your own name.

In my view, you would only need to change names if you were up to mischief.

Only the system administrators can tell for sure, by checking IP addresses, but I'm sure there are even ways of avoiding that.

On other sites, I've seen examples of similarities between the writing styles of user, which makes other users suspicious, which then have been reported to administrators.

It's seldom that I have enough to say for myself never mind for another character!

:o

Yep ... I go online daily from at least two computers and both will have different IP addresses

Does that make me Timgolfy?

Have I blown my cover ??
