Time to Reboot Parliament?

The vast majority of MPs do not break the rules on expenses. Some of you posting on here are typical of the modern day neer-do-wells that tar everyone with the same brush. Present company excepted of course

That may be true.... Or it may just be a minority. Either way this idea would be harsh and probably unfair on those honest MPs, but this wouldn't really be about fairness. This is a drastic measure to restore public confidence in parliament.

Ok, it's not really a serious suggestion, but how else do we achieve that? Regardless of how many of our MPs have followed the rules do you think there aren't more expenses abuses still to come out? Each time it does it undermines any progress that has been made in improving their image, sweeping them all out would resolve that.....

And it wouldn't work! Tolerance is the best they can hope for!

To be replaced by less competent, equally distrusted ones.

Marking their own homework is not sufficient! Even the new style - created as a consequence of the scandal - is not truly independent!

And here's a nice parody on the letters. http://www.theguardian.com/politics...ter-honest-culture-secretary-expenses-scandal

Call me an old cynic, but

the press quietly allows Parliament to regulate itself (post expenses scandal)

and

parliament quietly allows the press to regulate itself (post Levenson)

coincidence ? .. you decide.
