Subject: A LETTER THAT EVERYONE SHOULD READ

This is so true.

It’s one of the best letters I have read for a while - its time BOTH
parties stood up and listened,
This is our country and it is being destroyed:

To David Cameron (Prime Minister) & Ed Milliband (Leader of the Opposition)

You BOTH worry me! (In fact both of your Political parties worry the
hell out of me!!!)

Over the last three years, I find myself becoming more and more
fearful of the pair of you, and between you, you are turning this
country into a place that I no longer feel at home in, or feel a part
of! I watch you in parliament, and no, not just the two of you, but
every politician that I see, stand up in parliament sneering at each
other, and acting like children (and if you were my children, I would
be ashamed of you all). What an example to set!

Although you would like us all to believe that you are putting the
needs of this country at the forefront, NEITHER of you are doing that,
you seem more interested in "one-upmanship ", in scoring off each
other, & denigrating each other, to the detriment of this country &
its people!!!
It seems to be all about YOU as individuals, and not about what you
can DO for this country!
It is fast becoming a place that I do not recognize, as the place I
always thought, was the best place in the world to be!!!

But no longer!!! You are not listening to the people of this
country!!! And here in Great Britain , your counterparts are afflicted
with the same disease - is it endemic in all politicians?

I am watching the deterioration of living standards in this country,
(and according to you, on a world stage we are doing better than most
countries ... REALLY???)... And yet the gap is widening between the
"haves" and the "have-nots”. I see our homeless on the streets, our
hospitals under-funded and understaffed, our health system is an
absolute mess and a disgrace ... And yet I see multi-millions of
dollars being sent off shore, in aid to other countries, before
attending to this country's needs!

I see the "selling off of water rights to foreign interests, WHY...?
Especially when you go to great lengths to tell us that water is a
finite resource, & supposedly, we must ALL be careful with how we use
it, so that we ensure we have it for the future?

A Carbon Tax,( which you KNOW is just another tax ) which will make NO
appreciable difference, to carbon emissions, AT ALL!

A tax, which in spite of all your arguments FOR it, you are doing
alone, when other major countries will NOT & DO NOT embrace it, or
believe in it !
All that it will do for this country is put working families and small
businesses behind the eight ball, what planet are you on, if you think
that your few hundred pounds a year, will make even a scrap of
difference to the effect of the carbon tax on people? Anyone can see
the holes in that argument!!! Do you really think we are that dumb???

Let's talk about Multiculturalism - People have been coming here from
other countries, for a better life, for more years than I have been
alive (I am 72 years old!)......
Pre & Post war immigrants came for a better life, and settled in and
became wonderful contributors to this country, all have contributed to
the rich diversity of this country, and some descendants have even
fought FOR this country, and they have become U.K. citizens and were
glad to be and they had NO handouts from our Government either,
...they worked hard for everything!

I have never before had a problem with all, or any, race of immigrants
coming here... However, I DO NOW!!!

Please tell me why we have areas in towns and on large estates all
over the country, where police do NOT, & will NOT go, for fear of
their life?
Please tell me why we can no longer have religion in schools, for fear
of "OFFENDING" someone? (The latest little gem is that they are not
having, or being funded, for "chaplains” any more, but "Counsellors
"?)
Please tell me why religious Christmas observances are no longer
allowed in some schools for fear of OFFENDING someone?
Please tell me HOW Christmas decorations in some stores might OFFEND someone?
Please tell me why we have to have segregated days in some swimming
centres, for fear of "OFFENDING" someone?
Please tell me why we have some RADICAL clerics demanding Sharia Law
in this country ... when if we were in THEIR country, this would NEVER
be allowed?
Please tell me why our laws need to be changed, so as not to OFFEND someone?
Please tell me why we are fast becoming a MINORITY voice, in our own
country, because of POLITICAL CORRECTNESS?
Please tell me WHY Britains cannot legally wear a face covering bike
helmet into a bank and yet it is OK to wear a Burqa which covers the
whole face?
And please tell me WHY, when those people who want asylum here, can
wreck our detention centres, and STILL be accepted here?

What does that say, about just who and what are this government's priorities?

The British people that I speak to have genuine concerns about
becoming a second class minority in our own country, and the reasons
for it, are some of the above. Are you so blind that you cannot see
this?

And no, I am NOT racist! (if I did not like Catholics or Protestants
would I be considered racist ?) Of course not!

Why is it that if we object to what is happening in our country ... we
are immediately labelled RACIST, in an attempt to shut us up?

We are fighting Radical Muslims, in Afghanistan & Iraq , are we not? I
hear you say, yes but the Muslims we have here are "Not like that”
Well how would we know? ...do we hear ANY of them coming out &
speaking AGAINST radicals?? I haven't - have you???

Islam is not compatible with ANY of the values that we hold here in
Britain ! .....Are not the experiences of France and the Netherlands an
example of that? Why do you think it would be any different here? We
even have a British born "radical ", whose message is that Britain
WILL become a Muslim country, under Sharia Law, & that we had "better
get used to it ".

Will both of you grow some "Balls ", and start sticking up for this
country and its people???

We are the people who put you where you are, and PAY you to look after
our interests! ... And you are NOT doing that, by any stretch of the
imagination!!!

I would appreciate an answer, from both of you, if only to convince me
that once again, I am not talking to a brick wall!!!!!

In case it has escaped both of you ...I would like to remind you that,
in the U.K. Government ... is FOR THE PEOPLE, OF THE PEOPLE, & BY THE
PEOPLE.
Never forget that......because you sure have up till now!!!
Let us get this out to all – please keep forwarding and if you have
people in the press or if you know Politicians – let them know we are
dis-satisfied with their behaviour!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PLEASE SEND THIS GREAT LETTER TO AS MANY PEOPLE IN THE U.K. AS YOU
CAN, AND IF U HAVE CONTACTS OVERSEAS DO THE SAME?

Sorry but not sure about this letter. Felt uncomfortable reading it. There are many problems with this country. Many I would put before the sentiments of this letter. It does seem divisive and aimed at splitting the population.

I think we should employ older political leaders.
Most of the front bench of both main parties seem incapable of long term vision.
Say and do anything to win the next election, if we are not careful we shall end up like Italy.

What goes roound comes round and within 10 years I think we shall have a modern socialist party in control.

D you think you'd be ale to change the entire infrastructure of a country in 4 years. That is the problem! You give me a short period of time before I need to impress and it's going robe a bunch of quick wins and things to make you happy.

You give me a longer time...we may be able to put long term plans in place

You give me forever, and the entire infrastructure will change, but you'll call it a dictatorship!

We can not expect a group of people to devise, implement, review and improve a set of improvements in 4 years. It needs consistency.

As I skimmed through the familiar ramblings, I had a small side bet with myself as to when the phrase "I am not a racist" would appear. I won.

Poorly disguised xenophobic propaganda. Start with some simplistic complaints that everyone will agree with, then introduce the right wing manifesto. Islam then becomes the target. A whole religion. Not even just the radical fundamentalist (tiny) minority, which almost every major religion has, but the whole of Islamic faith and culture. Like I said, Xenophobic, bile filled nonsense.

i do agree with you that a whole section of any religion or group should not be tarred with the same brush as the nutters in their group ,but IF as you say it is a minority (in any group i dont just mean islam or any religion ) why cant/dont the decent people in the majority sort it out themselves .. i totaly 100% respect your opinion , but to me alot in that letter is very true ,
In my opinion anyone that needs help here in Ireland or the UK should be helped in the best we can , but as John Howard said about Australian visitors , welcome to australia you are welcome but this is our country & our laws & our beliefs ,we will respect yours but we will not change for you, if you dont like it feel free to leave at any time ..

Our goverment are the same , they are busy scoring points off each other , the opposition will disagree even if its a good idea , & they are robbing the country from within , with benifits & expences , the letter to me is the little man trying to shout out, to be heard, unfortunatly it takes alot of people to shout out together to be heard up in the ivory towers of government ..

Why don't the decent people in any religious conflict "sort it out"? Because decent people don't want to resort to violence? Because we live in a society in which people have learned that interfering can lead to retribution? I'm sure there are hundreds of reasons. But letters like that are not the voice of the "little man". In no way does that letter represent me.

I agree that politics has become a point scoring exercise but guess what. Less than 50% of people eligible actually vote. We could hold politicians to account if we could actually be bothered.

Don't let a couple of valid points contained in that letter blind you to it's real meaning. it's hate filled, racist bullshine.

I will start off by saying that I've seen this "letter" a dozen or so times in the last couple of years and do not agree nor endorse any of it's content. It's as much for the purpose of being a "people pleaser" than the politicians that it derides.

However, can you tell me the racist elements of it? I can't see one racist statement in there. Dislike or intolerance of a religion (which is what this seems to be about) cannot be labelled racism as religion is non-denominational in race (you can have Christians born and living in Arabian countries and Muslims born and living in Scandinavia).
What I get from this is that distinct stirring of unrest to other religions and their followers, there is a low level Xenophobic theme running through it (quasi-subliminal) but I can't say racist as it does not demean nor deride a specific race.

Not a great letter to be honest. Was thinking along exactly the same lines as Rosecott. The biggest problem for me is that there are too many careerist politicians: 'Milibland' being a case in point. I want a political system that encourages people with real life experience to stand for election instead of 30 something's that read Politics at University and have been worming their way up the political system for a few years since graduating.

The party system means that anyone with values has it 'whipped' out of them before they can actually reach a position to advocate real change. And those with that power often wield it for personal rather than objective motives: just look at what Gove is doing to the education system.

Paxman's Political Animal is a frightening read and certainly deterred me from considering a political career in my later years. I can certainly relate to concerns about the state of the nation; but in terms of this letter bluewolf is right on the money when he called it "xenophobic bile filled nonsense"

No but i have heard for years its only a minority , be it religious nuts , football hooligans , & over here it is travellers , when the heads of thes groups are interviewed re trouble of hassel it always revertd back to its just a minority of society .. BULLDUNG in my opinion mate , why don the heads of these & other groups either sort the minority out or report the offenders to the authorities then & let them deal with it & work with & within the laws of that country ??

I am not for a second saying that all the content of the letter represents any one person except the author but take it up to the part re religion ,,

Yep! Me too, I was waiting for the old “I’m not racist; but” line. Which as you know is usually followed by a racist rant.

I guessed it was coming when we got to the bit about removing overseas aid. Then I knew we were going to get it when it went into the mythical nonsense that Christmas celebrations offend British Muslims. They don’t, it’s a myth conjured up by the likes of the Sun and other gutter press

i listen to a local radio phone in most lunch times and this type of letter is read out on a weekly basis, normally from a workshy benefit cheat who thinks this country owes him a comfortable lifestyle, there are plenty of things we do badly in this country BUT there are more things we do better and being compassionate and tolerant are high on our agenda.

This is a great country, if they don't like it they should p### off. When I've been to countries with few foreigners I always feel a twinge of pride when I come back just to see what a great mix of the human race we have, not to mention the best curries in the world.

I'm not sure who you want to "p### off". I agree on the mix and the curries but who is your target?

I'm guessing that it's intolerant people who judge entire religions, races etc based on the actions of the few... And I agree

That was what I hoped he meant but was a bit confused. Where would he want them to go? It's not an export we should be working on.

Didn't even read it all. Just another "look at me, over here, over here, look at me" rant. It's easy to blame the current governing party for the coutries problems but most of the time they are trying to repair the damage done by their predecessors. Gormless Brown did far more harm to this country than he is given credit for. You would have thought having a Scot with his hands on the purse strings would have been a good thing, sadly it was one of the worst. We were put in a position during the last labour tenure where 55% of new jobs during their reign were in the public sector. this ment that 45% of new jobs created were trying to pay for that 55%. It's not difficult to see it ain't gonna work!
I'm do not vote for a single party but for the one that will do the best for me and my community. This has not been easy over the last few elections. I said this crisis would happen about 4 years before the property market slumped but I didn't expect it to be this deep or go on for this long. I also think part of the problem is the fact our housing market has been artificially inflated for the whole recession. It's a mess and there's no easy way out especially with the financial crisis across Europe and in other parts of the world.
In short, we're ?!
