Tiger was 8-under thru 12 on Friday at Firestone and said 59 never crossed his mind. That was in 2000. He shot 61, went on to win by 11.

Dubious drop on the 18th.... if that was abnormal ground conditions I thought he got a club length from the NPR, not from the ball? Might be wrong as I'm still learning this game 
What a round though! What a great chance to shoot a 59. Left 1 shot out there though (the missed putt on 15). Great to witness.

He didn't measure from the ball, he measured from a spot marked about 8-10inches to the right of the ball, the npr.

I only caught bits of it, but from what I heard of the conversation with his caddie it sounded like he was trying to put his 2nd on 18 into the gallery to the right of the green!

It sounded like that! I assumed he was saying that was the line to aim and was playing for a big draw to bring it round. That was an assumption on my part though. Hitting it into the stand wouldn't have been a bad result from there, free drop in the drop zone and good chance for up and down.
