I would of done this as a poll but am thick as pig muck.

So, yes or no.

I think he's a banker. He's 11th on the list and played a restricted schedule. If he was 13th or below then it could cause a debate pickng him over others.

I'd be amazed if he's only there as a vice captain.

You really got a thing for him haven’t you 😂

Sad but true. I want to see the best players playing in the RC and Woods has been playing well lately and come close in a major so definitely in form and the fact that in RC matches especially better ball can get away with the odd bad tee shot and it isn't a problem. Finding him the right partner would be the biggest headache. I think he'll be playing

Tiger was always trending towards this, and imo was a cert after the Open. Yesterday just means it won’t be a contentious decision now

He will definately be playing, as mentioned he is a box office draw and brings in viewers and money. If Tiger wasn’t in the team you can guarantee the higher powers that be will take the decision out of Jim Furyk’s hands however from interviews he’s hinted he’s hard to ignore as a wildcard.

I dare bet my house Mickelson makes a wildcard position to, I’m not even saying that as he’s played in the last 10/11 Ryder cups. I’m a sceptic and with the Mickelson and Woods $10m showdown rumours someone somewhere pulling certain strings be it sponsors, partners etc will want them both centre stage.

If there were no captains picks he'd be there on his RC ranking as 11th place and if I look at every USA player in the US RC ranking from 13th place down is there anyone you'd honestly put into a US Ryder Cup team ahead of Woods if you had to choose one or the other

Because you are looking at the team format and especially Foursomes then you look at it differently than if it was just about the singles

From the players below the top 12 there are a few that you could put in instead of Woods because of their potential in team format

Finau
Kisner
Kuchar and even going to someone like Zach Johnson

I would expect all four to be better off the tee which would be crucial in Foursomes especially

But also it seems that DeChambeau is prob going - that’s good news for Europe because it’s clear that he has emotional issues on the course and very prone to a meltdown on the course

When you add in the poor form of players like - Reed , Watson , Mickleson and Simpson plus Spieth being a bit patchy their team doesn’t look as strong as many suggest

I actually think given what we’ve seen and heard about Tiger ‘socialising’ etc with other players on the range this year and general demeanor (out with the round itself) it might even make him a better fit into a team contest and while his drive is definitely the risk over the players you mention, the reward is his 2nd shot which easily surpasses those other guys and I think someone else mentioned that there might even be less pressure on his drive given that it’s only the singles where it’s needed in a head to head
For Europe the longer his tee shots stay iffy the better, so I’d be quite happy (even as someone who likes watching Tiger) if he doesn’t sort it out too quickly but I believe he eventually will (he’s one of the elite that can adjust his schedule away from regular tour golf to work on the cure knowing he can cherry-pick to play almost anywhere)

Agree with you, if DeChambeau gets in it’s an absolute bonus ball for Europe (leaving aside temperament I also don’t think his approach to playing the game remotely suits being part of a team that doesn’t play the same way)

The RC isn't about "Box Office"...it's about winning. There will be plenty watching as it is.
I don't think, for one moment, either JimF or TomB will be concerned with how many people are watching.
They want to win.
If JimF believes that Tiger will improve his chances of being a Ryder Cup winning Captain then Tiger gets a pick.
I think Tiger's deserved his pick and, to an extent, I agree with LPP... Tiger's RC record isn't great.

No doubt. Tiger is in. He also has influence with Furyk in regards to the other picks and the man he wants in the team with him is Bryson DeChambeau. They'll partner up and they're very similar in the way they look at the game, they play a lot of practice rounds together. I think they'll be a good partnership personally. So I'm fairly certain the 4 picks will be:

Tiger
Bryson
Mickelson
Kuchar

The only one there's a tiny bit of doubt with is Kuchar - they may want to pick one of the young guns instead - a guy like Finau or Schauffele or Cantlay.
