Tiger v gmac

Its still Tiger, its not a different person, he's still been there and won 14 majors and knows how to get it done. To question whether Woods can deliver at the business end of a major, even with what he's been through, and then propose Westwood can deliver just doesn't add up I'm afraid.

Was that a Major ? In the States? Around a hilly Augusta? With a suspect Achilles ?

I would suspect that playing 8 days on the trot has put to bed any doubts he may have had about fitness Bob.

Suspect achilles he does not have.

He will be top 5 of that I have no doubt.

And by the way yesterday wasn't just a win....he pulverised the field really.

Exactly my thoughts,I posted on here a few weeks back that he was getting very close to a win and I was slated for it cos a lot of people here thought he still couldnt put 4 rounds together,Its bad news he can and even tho i`m not a Tiger fan he looks like he`s here to stay again.Lets just hope messers Mcilroy Donald and Westwood can ruin he`s party at the Masters and lets face it the Palmer tournement was a very depleted field.

If Els or GMac had won yesterday, how many mentions of it being a depleted field would there be I wonder?

You realy believe its the same quality Tiger tho ? im a fan & i dont been honest ..
That question of can he deliver "again" at the business end will always be there until he does deliver , (Tiger that is) & its also more of other golfers not fearing the Tiger factor as they did when he was at his best .
Alot of these young guns have never been blasted off the course by Tiger , the respect him but the dont fear him ..
The same geting it done hangs over Westwood, same as it hung over Monty (as we know he didnt)

do you seriously not think there is more of a question mark over westwood than woods?

I dont think woods is as good a golfer as he was at his peak currently, though he may well get back there, but its still the same person and he knows how to win, the same cant be said for Westwood and a major

I do wish it didn't become the Tiger show though, it is wearing thin. It's not his fault, but it does spoil the viewing when it is all about one person.

You got to see the winner from start to finish - nothing wrong with that.

He's the best, by far. That's two wins and a couple of 'nearlys' in 5 events, how can the cameras NOT be on him? Without doubt he's the most exciting player to watch, one of the greatest 'shot makers' in the game.. there's been a few special ones in the past few weeks, everyone else (apart from Rory) is like watching wet cement.

I'm happy with this statement.

But...... I don't want to see Tiger on the practice green, Tiger on the range, Tiger's parking space (that he will park in when he arrives at the course), fans at the gate waiting for Tigers arrival, etc. Not whilst there are golfers out on the course actually playing golf.

G-Mac.....what a shocking display. Applied zero pressure to Tiger and gave away 5-6 shots.

Tiger deserved the win, best player by far and he wasn't even out of first gear on the back nine.

First win - check.
First win on the PGA Tour - check.

Now he needs to win when the best Europeans are involved or win a major to be properly back.

At least if Tiger is winning the coverage is fair enough. It's when he's tied 20th and the coverage is mainly on him that makes it laughable and bad for the game as a whole.

Apart from the WGC and Majors, you could say the same about every other tournament. Luke Donalds win at the Transitions was a depleted field. Was that a unworthy win?? C'mon! Just another excuse to trash the acheivement.
The few times that the World's top 3 have been paired with Tiger, Tiger has come up on top on the occasions. They simply cannot cope with the freak circus that follows TW. Even Rory admitted he was happy to be playing someone else on the final day.

Did anyone see what he muttered?, when he was crouched down on the 18th and the realization of a win hit in. It looked like he said ''Thanks Dad''...........

Good win for Tiger, but also nice to see Gmac and Poulter playing better again. Not exactly been at the top of their game recently. A Tiger Rory final round pairing in the Masters would make pretty good viewing, especially if Rory wins.:)

Tigers swing looks good, his driving more controlled, his irons as good as ever, but Augusta will be a big test of his putting. The part of his game up that needs to hold up under pressure going into the back nine. Could be a great Masters with so many top players hitting form at the right time.

The question now is not whether Tiger needs to prove himself against the "top 6" in The Masters. It's whether the Top 6 can prove THEMSELVES against Tiger at Augusta.

The fact that Westy, Donald, etc. couldn't win whilst Tiger was out can be seen as a real opportunity missed for these 'wannabies' (save Rory at US Open). It's not being disrespectable, but the opportunities have been there and they couldn't get it done. Now if they can do it with a decent Tiger in the field and playing well, then all power to them.

Tiger has nothing to prove. It's the guys with no major to their record that need to step-up.

I didnt see that but it would be nice if it was. The man is human with all the same emotions we all go through, the same fears the same anxieties but he controls his professionaly the majority of the time but some slip through............... as he's only human!

Weight shifting on the severe up and downs of Augusta will be a real test of how fit his knees and ankles are. One thing for sure, if if gets 10 shots off the lead, one of them will go.

Not much, but when they started last nights coverage with a compendium of Tigers lip outs, and it goes on for ages, it doesn't fill me with confidence in his stroke.

Well, facts are facts and he has,of late, been putting well.

Having not looked at the link given is Els nearer the arse end of putting? If not,he should be as it looks like a bloody axe in his hands!
