I don’t know about you guys but I would have thought Tiger would have putted out, leaving Phil to finish the victor on his own. As for the final result, I never thought I would see Tiger collapse quite like that. To be at the top then fall back is as dramatic as the way he used to destroy the field.

3 decent days and one poor one, especially by his standards. Im going to leave judgement until mid April after the Masters as that is what he is really interested in.

Yup, it was a bit of an unravelling by Tiger. He'll get better as he gets more match fit, as they say. After all, its only a couple of weeks ago Big Phil was hitting around his ear!

If you think he did not give it his best today going head to head against Phil then your wrong.

Well done to Phil you whooped some A$$

Maybe he wanted to win (would he be there if he didnt?), I am saying that I will wait, once we get to the masters we will see how his plans for this year are developing for better or worse.
Im just not going to jump in and judge yet, not that my opinion matters to him one iota!

I hope you're not going to judge ANYONE unless you've won a few majors yourself??

LOL ;)

I've won a couple of beer races, and the Criss Cross Quiz in 1973.

So I feel totally qualified to judge and say that Phil won.

No S&T in sight.

Ipso Facto that means Tiger is bad and evil and naughty, and should go and stand on the bad boy step for ten minutes until he promises to either win a tournament or give up.

Ok, Tiger is not as good as he was at his prime. Strange that, coz no one ever has been.

He's still better than a lot of golfers, and still has the potential to better than he is today.

I think this is potentially the best part of his career - not because of the number of tournaments he can win, but because he still stands head and shoulders above everyone as an influence.

I just want him to love the game as much as he used to. I compare him with Steve Davis. The Nugget fell below his best, but still played on for donkey's years because he wanted to compete and to play more than he wanted to be considered world no.1

Oh, did I mention that S&T has proved that it can't stand up to pressure

EXCUSE me, I have my name up in gold letters at my club :D Thats as good as it will ever get for me.

Ok Murg,.... that's good enough for me, although you have to realise forumers don't like opinions unless you've won a major or are PGA qualified... if you're any good at plumbing that also helps  LOL

Thats faie enough! Can alway use a good plumber, Mind you. Have you seen how much they charge?

Winning breeds winning , his target is the masters , no chance , needs to win again before he can aim for a major win again , his confidence is shot , on the last day when he pumps the gas the tank is empty ........thats my call

Not so sure about that.

It's been a long time since he's been confident that his swing will hold up under pressure, and we all know that takes time to ingrain.

But he still remembers how to win, and if he can put the two together anything can happen.

He'll win a tournament of some kind over the next 18 months. There's absolutely no reason why that can't be at Augusta. Noone knows the course and how to win there better than Tiger.

One day he'll pump the gas and get a surge of power. I have no idea when that will happen. Neither does Tiger.

But it will happen.

Oi!

Leave me out of this !!!:ears:

There were some glimpses of a fully working swing, his tee shot and approach to the 18th were superb, although by that time he wasn't really under pressure. He's putting himself on contention week in week out again so I think it's mainly his head, he's forgotten how to win in a full field, if he gets back his old energy for the game and gives himself the time to try and get the swing ingrained then he will be a force to be reckoned with

i'm not looking too much into it.still a good tournament from tiger with some good golf.still better than what we were seeing last season and it seems every time he plays now he is right there in the mix of it.

as for the putting out on the last the only reason i can think he didn't was the fact that charlie wi could of still made a 2 to tie and if phil missed it an eagle to tie.

i've got to laugh at all the newspaper reports, unreal the crap they come away with.

Didn't see any of the coverage so I have a Q: what was wrong in Tiger's game yesterday? I saw plenty of comments on Twitter about him missign 4 footers on the greens. Was he missing putts, or just off throughout his game?

He was actually playing pretty nicely for the 1st 6 holes. Then he missed short-ish putts for par on 7 8 and 9 and his whole game fell apart. Every shot he wasn't holding his follow through and getting visibly frustrated every time he'd pull/push a shot. Wasn't just off the tee either, he was poor with his short irons. Every so often there was a "tiger moment" (chip in at 12 from the bunker) and coming down 18, but he just did not look comfortable AT ALL.

Putting was certainly part of it, but he looked out of sorts across the board.
