He's not worth all that, the money should be past down to the journey man pro's who struggle financially, better prize money for lower places. $2 million in sponsorship just for turning up when the winner gets $600k, good grief the man should be embarressed but as we know he has no shame......

Well said that man! I'm pretty sure that if the $2m was added to the first prize to make it $2.6m then chances are Woods would enter the event anyway. If he wins it then fair play to him but if not, a lower ranked player gets the chance to take home a big cheque.

Appearance money should be banned but they always find a way round it :sbox:

The thing is; what do you do with all that money? It would be nice if they left a legacy of some kind to help the would be pros of future generations to maintain the level of achievements that they have for their country and the sport in general.

Think most do tbh. Tiger as the Tiger Woods foundation.

No top golfer should get money just to play - should be made to earn it

the big cheques are there partly and sometimes solely due to the Tiger effect

Partly yes.....solely? No

Tiger is not bigger than the sport. There have been plenty of superstars before him and plenty more will follow.

Of course definitely, you're so right. During the Morris/Jones/Palmer/Nicklaus era, scandal or attitude never existed.:rofl::rofl::rofl::thup:

Which scandals can you point out from their era that was main headline news for weeks like we saw with Woods shagathon then the cheatgate at the masters

Main thing you fail to realise is that the media in them days was in its infancy, no where near the giant it is today. Do you really believe great players of yesteryear never did anything remotely mischievous??

One that springs to mind is, Tom Watson having an affair with a married women. Who happened to be the wife of another PGA pro. His kids are reported to have cut him out of their lives probably because of said affair.

So does that make what Tiger did ok then ?

Tiger dragged golfs name through the mud - I have never liked his attitude on or off the course and that won't change. When he goes I think it will be for the better. Golf was better when he was away.

I've not read all the posts but was just thinking maybe he's the cause of why there are so few UK tournaments. A lot of you say he's raised the profile of this game, but with that he's raised the prize money and appearance money which he demands, so sponsors have to shell out loads of dosh to put a tournament on!!! I could be wrong, but it's a thought.

Why have you suddenly just changed direction? You made out in a previous post, Tiger was the main culprit of bringing the sport into disrupute. When scandal or attitude has always been in the game. Its only the power of todays media thats bought it to the forefront.

You do know there are no end of year prizes for ''Postwhore of the Year''??

I'm sorry if my opinion of Woods upsets his fan club

I just don't like him and everything that surrounds him - he spoils my enjoyment of watching golf tournaments and the sooner he goes the better.

We can go around in circles if you so wish but it would be wasted energy

No apologies needed, its you're opinion.

But when the majority of fans heavily outweigh's the small minority of haters, the money is still going to be flowing into Tiger's account. Like it or lump it. He's here to stay.
