tiger buying TM?

i think the rumours are true that tiger and his friends have Baught a shed load of tm shares. tiger then signs for tm and up up up goes their sales and share price. tiger and his friends sell shares and make a killing

There is no such thing as a TaylorMade share price as they are wholly owned by adidas Group.

Although how anyone thinks there is a killing to be made out of golf equipment companies either now or in the short to medium future is beyond me.

Better off backing the complete outsider in the Grand National.

I got the email too. Deleted it straight away. Is it me or is this just typical TM overhyping something. Loads of top players use their gear and if it was such a big deal you'd have thought they'd have insisted Tiger was there as well

It's Tiger.... walk me through how you "insist" he does something?

Not really over hype though, they have to let us know or it was money wasted.

All a bit under whelming really...
Tour player signs for Golf Club manufacturer........
I thought it was supposed to be big news...
Oh well...

Tiger is getting ready for Torrey Pines. They will be hoping he performs well after the announcement. Imagine the publicity for TM if he does well...

You can be sure he will be on TV a lot, especially in the group he's in

The trade are all in Orlando for the Merchandise Show whilst Tiger is in San Diego preparing for his comeback.

Would not be ideal preparation to be 2500 miles away only 48 hours before tee-off.

Maybe it really is just as simple as tiger trying all the different golf clubs and finding that TM actually did benefit his game the most? ..... he then goes to them and says his x and y terms a bit of negotiation and now he's on their staff list

I really hope it works for them both. However, I do find it interesting that he says his choice came down to one thing. Performance. And yet, his irons haven't been developed yet. He may well have absolute confidence in TM's tech guys producing an iron that will work well for him, but you can't judge the performance of an iron that doesn't yet exist.
I completely get that he likes the M family of woods and rates their performance highly. I think that is generally accepted throughout the sport, and it's a great idea to take fans through the development process of the new iron. But as he has already said they are going to make it into his bag, it's kind of telling me that certainly in the case of the irons, it's more about a deal than performance

News coming out of the TM stand at the PGA show yesterday is that the irons aren't at early concept stages. It's more fine tuning things to get them exactly how he wants them. Tiger wouldn't use equipment that doesn't work for him. It's not his style

Agreed he's a perfectionist. Read a comment this week that Scotty Cameron makes his putter personally and Tiger in the past has noted a 0.2g difference in weight.

I do find it funny how everyone seems to think he's signed with TM for the money. I wonder if they would be saying the same if he signed with callaway etc? I think a lot of it is the anti TM sentiment caused by how frequently they released clubs before.

Plenty of people are anti anything Woods/McIlroy/Spieth related. Rub of the green for those at the top of the sport. Personally I like McIlroy's latest move to allow himself to be totally flexible on clubs. His interview with Shane Bacon on his podcast, shows the depth of testing he did https://art19.com/shows/the-clubhouse-with-shane-bacon

He has not contract for equipment, just going with whatever he finds works?

Rory will be getting paid to put those callaway clubs in play, maybe not a full staffer deal, but will definitely be getting paid. Callaway made the clubs for Rory, so seems illogical for him to randomly stumble across them

I remember reading an article about how he tests clubs and how as every club (even though same make and set up) is slightly different some will be more prone to go left to right or right to left etc he will only hit each one once, twice at most, after that you will subconsciously adapt your swing to how the ball comes of the club face.
