sorry, not sure of the actual term for them... i've noticed rather than wear a jumper over a short sleeved top, that a fair few of the pros have decided to wear one of those skintight baselayers underneath they're golf shirt...

anyone got any experience of wearing it and does it help in a game of golf?

Beware they get very smelly quickly, better with merino wool than polypropylene for pong control but you'll pay more for that material.

Skiers and mountaineers have used that stuff for years, it's breathable, part of a layering system and they call it 'second skin'.

I exclusively use Under Armour and Player Layer Base Layers for American Football and for golf.

The Under Armour "Cold Gear" tops (with the high turtle neck bit) are VERY good at keeping you warm in cold conditions. (We start training for our American Football season in January and one of these under my Shoulder Pads more than suffices unless it's extremely cold. And bear in mind that there's alot of standing around between reps.)

I cannot recommend them enough. I use them as a jumper replacement as I hate swinging in anything other than a polo, so this gives me an un-hindered swing.

Definitely worth it if you don't like wearing layers when you're playing golf. Won't keep you toasty on *really* cold days, but I'd say it would keep you warm if gets down to 8-10 degrees.

The thin "summer" ones aren't really any use for golf unless you sweat alot and/or get alot of chafing, as they will absorb the sweat and prevent any chafing at all.

I don't like them. They make me feel as if I've been wrapped in cling film.
I'm afraid I either rely on a good old T-shirt or if it's really cold, a thermal T-shirt.
Clearly it wouldn't be called a Tee shirt if it wasn't intended for golf.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :D

can't stand jumpers and these are a better alternative.
I've got both Under Armour and some cheaper Parallel ones bought in Mountain Warehouse at a 2for price.

A decent rainjacket, shirt and one of these is good down to minus numbers.

It's funny because I hate wearing extra layers . I normally rush to get layers off and even in the winter on cold frosty mornings will only wear a sweater and polo. Looks like I'm off spandex shopping

I wear the Nike base layers, have done for years now. Wouldn't be without them. Infact I wore mine tonight as it was a bit nippy when I tee'd off. By the end of the round it was clear blue skys and warm. I was warm when tee'ing off but not too hot when on the 18th.

Little bit of advice, get one size smaller than you'd normally wear. I prefer mine nice and tight. :D

Is it the cold gear type one youre wearing though? Some baselayers are just compression tops, designed to help muscle blood flow etc.

Champion Cold gear are just as good as underarmour I reckon, and theyre quite a bit cheaper.

As for Mickelsons pink on black effort, you might need to buy a black and a white one, as some colours dont go i.e pink on black!!

it's the muscle compression tops i'm referring to i think.

I actually saw an advert in a(nother) golf magazine over the weekend for Skinz or something. I'm going to look into it a bit more.

Anything that will help my dodgy back get through a round of golf. I had to give up after 8 holes on saturday :(

lots more work to be done on my back, but if these tops work in any little way, then i'll get one.

I dread to think what colour they are... :D

Not saying you're overweight Geezer but...........green and you're gonna look like a brussels sprout, red a radish and black an aniseed ball.
Lets hope they're yellow. I can't think of anything round and fat that's yellow. Well, maybe a small desert island
;)
