Does anyone know exactly how the technology behind them works?
I was fiddling with mine last night *Ooh Betty* and looking at the hosel adaptor it appeared perfectly cylindrical, I was expecting it to be kind of on an angle or something. As far as I could see, turning the shaft to another position was just doing exactly and I couldn't work out how it changed the head position.
I've done the usual Google searches but it just comes up with articles on what the different settings do.
It's an R9 by the way but I imagine other drivers will use the same system.

It's a good video. I actually watched it yesterday, being curious. I did ask myself the same question though, how does it work like? On a side note his videos are really informative and I am really impressed by Tom and his company, so much so that I am considering his clubs for when I get custom fit next year..

I was custom fitted for one of his drivers in 1995. Had it in play for 5 years until it cracked where the sole meets the face. Probably the most consistently straight hitting driver that I have had. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

You echo a lot of the positive reviews/opinions I've found doing my research. The only negative response I found was someone who was custom fit but couldn't get on with the looks of the clubs and so changed  .

I got halfway through the vid and got bored. My problem is I sit the club behind the ball, and if it looks square on I'll go with that. All the toe-ing in and opening out + the roll of the club face... how many times in a round do you catch the ball out of the middle with the swing and club face on the right path?

Its conceivable you could have it set wrong but hit half your shots where you want them to go because half your swings are cwap.

I'm on my 3rd adjustable driver, this one bought 2nd hand. It came already set well away from neutral. I didn't adjust it, just sat it down how I felt it should look and WHACK down the middle. I've fiddled about with the previous drivers but always just ended up setting the club down behind the ball how I felt it needed to be. I've adjusted them fully open, fully closed, lofted up and down, with virtually no difference in a round.

Different heads and shafts I fully understand how they can perform differently but a degree or two either way with the same head and shaft... nah, not convinced.... maybe I'm a Luddite?

In my experience the only thing that makes a difference is the loft setting, and then it's only marginal & has nothing like the effect of changing the shaft. In a machine, with a zero friction "wrist" I can see that moving the weight can affect the way the clubface rotates through impact. In real life, however, especially if, like me, you swing with firm wrists, the effect is not noticeable. Such a small change in weight distribution cannot have much influence over the muscles, even in the SLDR, with more moveable weight than any other driver. Like Hobbit, I set the squareness of the clubhead by eye & if mine was 2° open I would just subconsciously close the face, which would effectively reduce the loft.

There's a lot of kidology with this sort of stuff as there is with the latest "improved" model, which often doesn't perform any better than its predecessor.
