Think you can spell?

away from the internet, things that irratate me and people who say lend when they mean borrow "can I lend a fiver?"

and sports presenters saying your Giggses, your Beckhams etc.

....and being really nit-picking: people routinely say 'due to' all the time when it often should be 'owing to'.
In basic terms 'due to' means 'caused by' and 'owing to' means 'because of'.

And also being picky, people who start a sentence with the word 'and' .

Something else that makes my blood boil is people who say 'PIN number' or 'LCD display', why do they do that?

Slime.

Why do people need to say "Obviously" so often and completely out of context. Others are: "Basically", "Literally", "To be honest" and "At the end of the day".

Obviously they are communicating Literally, Look, to be honest I'm basically saying it's perfectly normal and at the end of the day who cares!

:smirk:

"One another"
Instead of the more correct :
"One and other", "one or other" , possibly " one and another"

I'd accept an apostrophe between the a and the n

Prepares one's self to be "shot down in flames" ...

All management jargon. I give you the best example ever. I was once invited to a meeting with the operation and technical directors. I was informed that we would have a "3 way cross-fertilisation of ideas." It was all I could do to stop myself repeatedly kicking him in the horlicks.

I will run this up the flagpole and see if anyone salutes.

I think some of you get het up over the smallest things. Chill out and listen to Sidney Freedman (M*A*S*H) 'ladies and gentleman take my advice, pull down your pants and slide on the ice'
