Kevin has done amazing things but picking up Rob & carrying him over the line seemed to smack of showboating. Can't help thinking it would have been better for for both of them if Rob had crossed the line in his chair.

Yep agree. I said to HID that it looked like it was for the cameras. He said he heard/read that the supporters were all asking for it or something. Either way it looked painful for Rob. He's literally skin and bone and any firm contact on him must be really sore.

I understand the concern, but I would hope that Kevin had checked about this before getting to the finish line. Then again, it could have been an emotional, spur-of-the-moment thing. However, I think the condition of Rob, and the "rag doll" way he is now may focus peoples minds on the totally debilitating effect of this disease and perhaps help to increase contributions. This is someone who only retired from the game in 2017, was diagnosed with MND two years later and has reached this condition very quickly.

It was stated this morning on BBC Breakfast that this was pre-arranged. The gag was that if Kevin was pushing then Rob would have beaten him and he didn't want that. If you look at the 2 runners that were with them they moved straight to take the chair at the point Kevin went to pick him up. There was no chat, no odd glances. Perhaps it was a little over the top but I think we can give them that.

I'll defer to the point.

But if me & Amanda had unprompted concerns, I'm guessing we can't have been the only ones? So perhaps the visual imagery hadn't the quite effect they hoped for?

Perhaps. Prior to those posts I'd only heard positive comments though, across media as a whole. A picture of two great mates, one helping the other in such a touching way.

It's interesting, same scene, different ways of viewing it 🤷‍♂️

I did think twice about posting as it was against the grain and also Kevin has been truly amazing. Maybe they should have thought more carefully about how Kevin would actually be able to lift Rob without it looking quite so uncomfortable.

Had the Grand sproggs round for half an hour this evening, talking about school and how it’s gone today.
Young Bradley Tash said quite straight faced, “Grandad do you know what SCHOOL stands for”, me er “no”, “Six Cruel Hours of our lives“ he says. 😳😁

Driving down a dual carriageway at 70 yesterday evening when a baby deer comes hopping out the bushes to the very edge of the road but decides to stop and nibble the grass on the verge. Thought it was going to be an expensive repair bill and fresh venison for dinner.

Lucky it was just on it's own. If another had come along and they'd bounded out then the repair bill would be too dear...

Someone had to do it!

Getting an email from my bank (Nationwide) saying they're giving me £100 next month. Some sort of profit sharing scheme apparently. Nice.

Got that aswell. The key word there is bank, it's not one it's a building society so we are members (rather than share holders)

A lovely surprise

Even more so that joint accounts get 2 payments are your both members
