Things That Gladden The Heart

About 50 of us residents of our road got some tables out yesterday with the road closed and had a very nice get together lunch. It was dull; it wasn‘t very warm; there were occasional drops of rain…it was a bit of a grey May day.

But with the kids running around together - chalking games on the roads, and the adults gathered sharing thoughts about everything - it was a very nice few hours. And even my off the cuff garbled words of a toast to the King, his family, and all of us together, the residents of the street, seemed well received.

Had a fantastic weekend with family and friends, pub lunches, brunches, TopGolf and board games, and managed to avoid watching even a second of coverage of some old bloke getting a sparkly hat. 👍🏻

Having a nice relaxing week in the Dorset/Devon border area.
Maybe there is something about being on holiday that lets your mind free itself up to new ideas.
Something that has been much debated on this forum and elsewhere came to mind today in a practical hands-on way.
I've had a life changing moment - like never going back to golf shoes with metal spikes or brand new driver that does not have a lower end to the shaft that you can twiddle.

I've tried both ways before, but I've found a third and new way now and I'm never going back.

Thin layer of clotted cream, then the jam, then more cream on top.
Scone Heaven.

I like your thinking.

Clotted cream on scones with strawberry jam ( and I don’t care what’s on top or bottom) is my guilty sin. When I was recovering from me legal violation last week Missis T made some scones and they were covered in clotted cream. Food porn at its finest.

I deleted my Twitter account this morning. Its so full of bile and madness there's absolutely no value in looking at it.

I wasn't a big user of it, but whatever time spent reading it, I just don't need that level of negativity in my day! 😁
Congratulations. I did the same around 5 years ago, and although it's hard to filter out all the madness, removing Twitter sure is a soul and mind cleanser.

I some times have a quick browse, if it's linked via facebook or the news, and I go to the Swedish feeds. It's the same people having the same arguments as they had back when I was using it. Pathetic, but I know how easy it is to get caught up in it. Once you've started to get some traction with a decent amount of followers, you should not underestimate what dopamine does to your mind when you see the comments, likes and retweets keep rolling in.

Very much like a digital drug.

Only seen a few very negative posts on my feed. The majority of what I see is either from authors, cancer patients, football, photography & politics. Some of the football can be a bit tasty, and you do get the odd troll telling cancer patients to stop whining and just die quickly. Politics is no different wherever you go looking for it.

My LONG awaited rebate of Corporation Tax arrived in the post today. Why they didn't bacs it I don't know.

Every bank for miles is closed. I was about to set off for Newport when I thought, "can I scan it on the App?"

Hoorah! I could, and I've done so. Hour or so round trip saved and some free cash for spending in the Pro Shop tomorrow!😁

You can pay HMRC by BACS but they wont return the money any other way but cheque. It's 2023  . Being able to take a picture of a cheque is both convenient and a tongue out to organisations trying to delay payments by using this method.

I don't remember the last time I was given a cheque (or wrote one)
We write one a year for the guy who services our boiler. We keep trying to convince him to give us his bank details to pay in directly but he wont do it  . When that cheque book runs out we wont be getting another so hopefully he will crack soon :D

Just found out that I needed a blood test for a hospital phone call next week

Booked, arrived and away from the blood test department in under an hour this morning. 😀

Bee experience day near Meadowhall. Loved it. Very hands on. Looking for the Queen is like looking for Wally with the lights off.
That’s me and Sum. A lovely girl/ pharmacist from Leeds.
Did you show her your new tattoo 😱

A guy at work has a few hives. He has an agreement with a local farmer who lets him put them in the corner of one of his fields. Quite interesting when he tells you about them.

The guy who took the course was telling us about how he passed out when he got stung loads of times a couple of hours after he had a tattoo finished off. He said Tattoos are agony and nodded to me. I said the one I had last week was painless. He asked “how’s that” I told him it was up me jacksy and why. The other girl on the course started sniggering. No respect some folk.
