Well what a load of bob that was.

Worst short game I can remember, from 16 attempts to get up and down from not too far from the green I managed 3.....
Most embarassing example was a drive to chipping distance on the short par 4 and coming off with a 6.
And it wasn't only the short game, just 4 fairways hit and one solitary GIR!
Despite only one GIR I still racked up 32 putts.

92 gross for net 83, 25 points Stableford.

The long game didn't feel too bad either.
One of those days where you look forward to playing all week and then just don’t turn up on the day.

i feel your pain, played in a medal comp this morning, hit loads of bad shots,a few good ones and putted like an idiot, ended up net 74, 4 over par.

back 9 slightly better than the front, but lots to work on for next time.

Reasonably happy with 35 points considering the strength of the wind out there today. Mainly bogey golf but parred 4 out of the last 5 holes.

Thats my usual lament, Nick..... or I should say, One of them! :(

Started birdie, birdie today...... then promptly hooked the h*ll out of my drive on the short par 4 third. Set me up for the remainder of my round...NOT !!!!!

A scrambling 35 points in the roll-up this morning with blobs at 9 & 18. Rather out of character for me I had 3 birdies, all on Par 3s which meant I played our 6 par 3s in 2 under which is no mean feat. To counter that, I played the 4 par 5s in +6 which is really not very good.

Hard luck mate. I think we're all probably guilty at one time or another of getting so excited about the upcoming game that we don't live up to our own expectations.

Seem to remember you getting off to a slow-ish start last season and that didn't turn out too bad in the end

Cheers mate, this year I'm getting the rubbish out the way before the season starts. ;)

Played a relaxed 18 today with my dad and a mate who doesn't play on a regular basis, nice and relaxed out in the sun. As ChrisD says, first Sunday Medal tomorrow and I'm feeling good about it. I'm looking forward to some serious golf after months on fun knock arounds. If my form from the Texas Scramble win two weeks ago is anything to go by i could be in for a shout.

Can't believe ChrisD didn't pick up on the OP's mention of Upchurch River Valley!!? Awful place, lots of blind tee shots and people playing off the tee to another hole, while ChrisD is trying to tee off from it! ha ha.

38 points with 2 blobs and two one pointers.

Worryingly started to reverse pivot and/or come way over the top in the middle part of the round and for the life of me could not shake it. Really please with the first 15 holes though. Highlight was a drive and 7 Iron to 5 feet on our 400yard 15th hole which led to a birdie.

26 points but hit it better than that. Missed greens but by fractions. Driving getting better. Short game woeful. I am partnering Hawkeye in a pairs event, (combined stableford off 3/4 handicap) and so we'll see what happens. If I can get the putter warmed up and a short game that is partly functional I hope for a decent day

21 points for 13 holes. Not great but not terrible. Greens are worst they've been over the past 12 months but there is lots of work being done on them in prep for the proper start of the season.

Hope to get out again tomorrow.

Team yellow ball yesterday hit 83 points. I played quite well once I'd got the 1st two holes out of the way with other two guys playing some decent golf as well.

Today was a stableford / medal so you take your stableford score on front 9 and take it away from your nett medal score on back 9. I came in with a steady 18, so played to my handicap and that's with 1 blob on the front 9 and two doubles on the back.

Driving needs work, but overall ok. Roll on summer!

Was hoping for more this weekend but that round last week has really knocked my confidence. Standing over the ball and not knowing what's going to happen... 25 points for me. Only bonus was I got a 2.

Let's hope I can get my mono back mid week at the society do... pairs comp next Saturday and I don't want to let my mate down!

A very nice 46 points in a 4bbb pairs comp today.
Myself 5 shots my partner 11 3/4 stableford.
24 on the front 22 back, hopefully in with a shout.
Putted really well, and the course was in good nick.

Played a 6600yrd Moor Allerton today, a long course with plugging fairways. Shot 32 points which I am very happy with considering I was garbage off the tee. +2 out and then it all went a bit pete tong.

Out with HiD, lovely afternoon. Played full handicap Stableford matchplay. won 3 and 2 shooting 74 for 39 points, HiD had 36 points and our 4BBB score would have been 46 :D

A weekend of contrasting weather and scores for me.

(Just social golf off the yellows).

Played Saturday morning in cold and windy conditions and shot 90.

Then this afternoon in warm sunshine shot 81.

Shot a very pleasing 81 gross, net 69 today, firing 10 pars, two doubles and the rest bogeys. Net 63 was the leader in the club house so not good enough but a good starts to this years competitions.

Won a voucher for a fourball at Crowborough Beacon so cashed that in this afternoon. Great weather, fantastic company, stunning views, a 2 & 1 win and the course wasn't too shabby either.
