Tiger is back!

He played better with each round and had it not been for some slack putting he'd have won the CA at a canter.

He lipped out 5 birdie & 1 eagle attempt in round 4 alone which is very un-Tiger-like

Anyway, any doubts people had about his future credentials should have been answered over the last 4 days and I for one am very glad!

What tournament were you watching? ;)

Mickelson and Watney were the only ones in it.

Phil M has many detractors on here but I've always been a big fan, I think he will take the world No.1 spot by The Masters. He's gotta be favourite for Augusta, I made some easy money backing him in 2006 at 7-1. might try him again if decent odds are offered.
Fully expect Tiger to take back No.1 spot but not until late in the year. Mickelson tends to play better earlier in the year.

Tiger annoyed me last night, how he threw his putter down onto the green after leaving a putt short was disgusting and childish.

I have the greatest respect for Tiger and he usually conducts himself extremely well however last night he was way out of order.

Of course since it was Tiger nothing will have been said. A hefty six figure sum fine or banned from the next WG event wouldnt be to severe in my eyes.

I've never been a massive Mickelson fan, but his conduct and demeanour at the Ryder cup were perfect.
he really went up in my estimations after that.

I quite agree Craw. Imagine if it was someone at your club doing that in front of the captain, they would probably get called up in front of the commitee. It's not a great example to the young golfers. They probably think if Tiger does it, then it's OK.

Here we go again....Tiger bashing at its very best

I make a post about his form and it gets turned, in 2 replies, into a thread about his conduct. For crying out loud we've done this to death already a few weeks ago!

Phil played great and deserved the win i agree, however you cant argue with the fact that, as each round went on, Tiger got better and better and had his putting being up to the standard it was at before the injury, he would've walked away with the CA championship easily.

It's not Tiger bashing at all, I have nothing against Tiger and on the whole he's a great role model. I would have said the same if any of the tour pro's had done that.

I agree, very bad example to set, but it seems he's 'bigger ' than the game ?
They wouldnt dare punish or admonish him it seems.

Personally, I find him nearly as petulant to watch as Montgomerie, and whilst he is an undoubtedly extremely talented golfer, I get sick of hearing about him, watching him, or reading about him.

Oh, did I mention writing about him too ?

have not seen any of the golf, strange for a golfer but hardly watch any. back to the tiger throwing his putter down, yes ,i expect a lot of us have done that with most clubs in the bag. if it was reported then we would all be dining on humble pie. the point is tiger is an exceptional talent and role model to thousands, and should lead by example, and take punishment accordingly. we do not want golf going the way of the premiership where inept officials run away because they are spineless and the players are too big for there own egoes. most top sportsmen lead by example but should not be to big to be punished accordingly

Nobody forced you to read/reply to this thread did they? ;)
You have to open the thread to see what it's about though, as the title means it could be about anything ;)

Very true...however the very 1st word in the thread is Tiger, at which point he could've click 'back' and thats that over & done with.

Instead he continued to read and write about Tiger even though he's sick of the subject...go figure

shagster, totally agree and as a counterpoint, what about the example set by Baddeley, calling an error on himself that he knew would get him disqualified.
Aaron Baddeley was disqualified on Saturday morning from the WGC-CA Championship.

Baddeley was disqualified for signing an incorrect scorecard in the second round. The incorrect scorecard was caused when he realized today that he had intentionally moved a stone in the hazard on third hole during his second round. After consulting with rules officials, Baddeley called the penalty on himself, which resulted in his disqualification. Baddeley later commented that it was, "disappointing, but I had to do the right thing."

I read it same as Keef, so I guess it just came out wrong.

You don't think modern Pro's call penalties on themselves, because they know some nobody watching tv in middle america will phone it in retrospectively anyway? Or is this just me being a cynic?

I guess I will give him the benefit of the doubt, and say that he is a sportsman and a gentleman. But why was he moving a stone in a hazard? and what caused him to remember, after returning his card? A bit of guilt creeping in?

No murph, he asked a referee during the 3rd round (because one was there) if it was OK to move a stone under his foot. Ref said no, so he owned up that he had done so in the previous round.

Fair enough then.

Wonder why he thought he could move a stone. Even moving stones in bunkers are only a local rule, and so I guess the Pro's don't get the relief that we get. That said, you would hope their bunkers are better maintained than ours.

You get alot of scrub land and shale on Florida golf courses, but these aren't usually a hazard, so you can move loose debris. If you see the old stakes around whatever you are standing in, the rules are pretty clear. Seems like a silly mistake to make.

The guy will win the Masters for me I have no doubts of this.
Great to see him throwing his putter to the ground when he left that putt in the jaws...you can't beat a bit of club rage, show's you have real fire in the belly it should be a must in every golfers make up!
