Would be a great idea.
Also, add in 3 of the Lancashire courses to the rotation.
Would get great crowds, and allow us southerners to watch.
I suspect the wealthy ams would turn their noses up though, and I'm guessing the rich guy schmoozing is part of the rationale of the event. So as hjs says, probably won't happen.

Not a fan of it but the only one on the rota that gives us Southern based fans a chance to visit without it being a trek

Same reason I want rid of it! I have no opinion on the course but I think birkdale is too far south! Plus the open is better in bad weather.

what about using some of the great Inland Links courses we have, then those central have a close event to get to too.

Every 10 years for TOC seems reasonable, especially in the absence of strong blustery wind or an equipment rollback much more extreme than what is currently proposed.

Would be great to expand the rota to more areas of the British Isles, but there aren't many courses capable of hosting such a massive event other than those that have grown with it.
