Need to think Great Britain and Ireland, or British Isles, rather than United Kingdom when it comes to golf administration.

So no, they wouldn't.
They already have rerouted Porthcawl when they hosted the British Seniors a few times. The 18th becomes the 1st and the 17th becomes the 18th. I assume they will do the same for the Ladies Open this year.
As an Englishman I feel the sameI've said it here before but as an Irish person I'm really not enthusiastic about the possibility of the Open being played here. For whatever reason it doesn't feel right to me that it should be outside of England & Scotland. Even having it in Portrush doesn't feel ok
