The Open @ Birkdale.

How easy is Birkdale to get to by train from the likes of Warrington or Haydock? Thinking options of affordable hotels

Neither are crash hot. You need to be closer to the west coast mate. Either around Southport itself , or there would be stops all the way from Liverpool North. Cheapest option would probably be cheap digs around Wigan and get the train from there direct to Southport, then change for Birkdale (1 stop).

If your planning a knees up in the evening then I'd stay in Liverpool. I hear there is a great bar their called Smokey Moes :)

Anyone actually bought tickets yet ? £65 with MasterCard discount, £70 if not. Not bad for a whole days entertainment

I'll let anyone put a tent up in my garden for £20, and if you don't stink I might let you use the toilet.

Spam Butties!!

You see that's the Difference, the Friday Crowd will be all Skinny Jeans, big Groomed Beards ... Artisan Loafs with Continental Meats...We'll be getting fashionable rowdy on Craft ales whilst Heckling the self proclaimed Postman on the Practice Ground.

Well, maybe the Heckling..;)

Can you still get Sunblest Bread? I used to love that stuff!

Yep, I got a sunblest loaf the other year - its horrible. It tastes like that long-lasting bread that lasts about 3 months - think they use it at Goodison.;)

Pete, I need a recommendation for a good steakhouse in Liverpool that's not Miller and Carter, any info? I'm down weekend after next.

CAU and Gaucho both have places in Liverpool I think.

We go the Manchester Gaucho / Media City CAU. Both excellent with good choices of wine (essential).

To be going on with mate.

Ive eat at Fazenda, but I'll be honest the Brazil/Argentina eat as much as you want meat malarkey, doesnt do it for me.

Castle street is the new up-and-coming dining area with quite a few places opening up around there, and is only 2 minutes walk away from Matthew street.

Beeeeeefffffff!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Got 18th hole grandstand tickets for Sunday. First time so me and a mate are treating ourselves. I just hope it's close with the last few groups coming up the 18th and there's no runaway winner! Be nice to have a great seat for the finale! Mum and Dads house is in Hillside so we can walk over!!! :)

Blimey reading this thread you'd almost think there is a bit of culture in the north west! I assume southerners can buy warm fizzy shandy somewhere?

Which reminds me, is Chateaux Hurst taking reservations yet? ;)

Going Sat and Sunday with a couple of mates, booked a travelodge in Liverpool for both nights. Probably play somewhere on the way home on Monday.

Yep, if you'll go top and tails with Lincoln quaker.

I have a pool table also.

Will be flying out on holiday on the Friday so might look at going on the Thursday. The Southport train runs through my village so I'll just get a taxi from the station.

Another one going up on the Friday. I like the Friday as it is not overcrowded and all the players are still there. We intend getting up there about 7am and staying for at least 12 hours (weather dependent).
