The North west of England is closed - official

It's relentless and driving me crazy.... We had some real bad flooding just st after Boxing Day and won't be on full 18 holes until April at the earliest!
We should have our top 8 holes open all the time as they drain massively, but I am guessing they have closed them as they will get so much traffic and in this deluge they will get destroyed!

Andrew Murray showed me the pictures of Lymm around that time and it did look terrible, hope it recovers quickly.

Thanks Jason! It was crazy.... Couple of our drainage pumps have been damaged on the bottom holes, so need to get them sorted.
Quite a few local clubs offered reciprocals which was really kind, but I bet they are suffering as well now!

Had county coaching today and the practice area was very wet, almost no go in places, but it was fine. Stayed dry but was quite cold. And I learned an entirely new way to chip..... Go figure!

Our course has had the mantra of we are open no matter what over the past 2 years.

Until today it has finally shut. I have never known rain like this 14 weeks of it now.

Come on FD, tell the class what you learnt. Don't be shy. :fore:

Probably not rocket science but a bit of a change for me.

Set up standing close to the ball, shaft close to vertical such that the heel of the club even raises a bit and swing back and through. Feels like a putt. I need to practice but my first impression was that I got a much more consistent strike and pretty good accuracy with this approach.

Cool. check out rule number 3. Haven't had the opportunity to try this at a green just yet. I never liked this technique as the face never seemed to be pointing at the hole when the heel was raised way up.

i tried this today and had quite a bit of success. I'm trying to chip more with a LW as opposed to 7i/8i and my mate told me to try this. I did knife a couple though as I think the ball snuck a bit far forward in my stance and the dreaded flip with the right hand kicked in !!!

Is that on all chips ? What club do you use

Seen someone use that method when using an 8 iron

Yeah, all clubs, I had good success doing this with a SW.

One drill we tried was 14 attempts at a greenside chip. One go with each club in the bag!

Cheers will have a look at giving it a go

Imurg hates my "8 iron putt" it's so usefull from just off the green.
I imagine that someone of your talent could make it a deadly shot 👍
