Bob, I nearly did but then it fell through. I sent details, lots of pictures etc and they came back with a sales price. They strongly indicated that this was a guaranteed minimum price so I agreed. They then put the car out to dealers who would bid on it. The best dealer offer was well below the supposed guaranteed price and so I pulled out.

Had they made it clear that the price they initially offer was not guaranteed then I may have seen it through but I took the hump with them over that, I thought that they hid that in the very small, small print. As long as you are aware that the price you get is only firmed up AFTER the dealers put their bids in that is fine.

The idea that they simply pick it up from you, transfer the money etc is very appealing and I believe works smoothly, if you get that far.

Thanks.
I take it you didn't have to pay any fees?
No. I can't remember how it worked but I think they take a cut from what the dealers pay. Even if not, it doesn't happen until the deal is actually made. There was no pressure at any stage incidentally, you simply decline the offers online and that is the end of it. No phone calls to push you or any iffy tricks.

I looked at both them and We Buy Any Cars but the convenience of the car being collected rather than dropping it off at a WBAC depot and finding my own way home won me over. If you are happy with the price then it is a good way to do it.

I’ve collected a few cars from people who have sold via Motorway and, whilst I can’t comment on the prices paid, all have been very impressed with the ease and convenience of the entire process.

i sold mine last year through Motorway. The indicative offer or minimum bid that they use to put out to their dealers was 2k better than WBAC. I uploaded all pics etc and was bid that level by Sytner Cardiff, who came to the house and took it away - caveat from them is they they had to confirm no remap before they wired the money.

All worked very well and 10% higher than WBAC

It looks like the motorway way is the way to go.
Thanks everyone
Just seen this. Until yesterday I had never heard of them, then I spoke to next door neighbour. He is chuffed to bits with them.
He has sold a Citroen for a good bit more than we buy anycar offered. He was telling me that any fees are paid for by the people that buy the car. He was telling me you take 16 ? Photos. Which angle to take them from etc. he is a very happy bunny.

We Buy Any Car are part of the same group that own British Car Auctions - their valuations are rarely met, and their policy is to get you down with your vehicle after a tempting offer, than knock it down by 20 percent or more - they then send them on a transporter to BCA. You might as well put the car through the auction yourself - at least that way you can put a reserve on it.
Not used Motorway but I wouldn't advise anybody to use We Buy Any Car.

It's not exactly that simple and wasn't a direct path! There were a number of iterations involved and many other relationships exist than mean not all cars purchased via WBAC end up through BCA.
Years ago, I knew a couple who specialised in Cavaliers, now simply Vauxhalls and Fords, and they had a relationship with both as sources of stock.
Relatively new Car sales coy, cinch - sponsors of Queens Tennis champs - is an associated company, with, presumably much of their stock sourced from WBAC.
Of course, some of the WBAC cars will go through BCA. But the group would likely use other outlets, including their own, to optimise profit.
