Freely TV?

I'm not sure.
When I found out you can't record, I stopped looking
If it's on demand, as @Arthur Wedge suggests, then recording is irrelevant as it is always there for you. You don't record Netflix, Amazon, Disney etc You don't need to record BBC or ITV programmes either. They are all there for you, any time you want them

I'm currently going through the Tom Baker era of Dr Who on iplayer. There is masses of stuff out there, none of it needs recording. It's a mindset change

The trouble is I have 4 tvs so would need to replace them all. At the moment they are connected to a Manhattan 1TB set top box

Does Freely offer much more?

Maybe look at getting a Firestick for your main tv? They allow you to download a range of free channels via their apps. Not dodgy ones, the standard ones. Plug it in, set up takes minutes, off you go.

I've got a tv which has Freely built in. It also has all the other standard stuff, all the streaming apps and plenty connections for Sky Q box, firestick etc.

Coincidentally, I've just cancelled Sky today as they were putting my package up from £45 to £75 next month. I did a bit of haggling and got them down to £55, but decided to cancel and see if they come back with a better offer over the next few weeks.

If not, I'll give Freely a go along with the streaming apps.

One of the advantages of Freely is it only needs a wifi connection, so you can stick the tv wherever you fancy without worrying about cables etc. I'm thinking of getting another one as we are about to extend the kitchen.

Wrong. So wrong.
Unless you're prepared to pay the extra fees that all the streaming services want for ad-free (iPlayer excepted - but don't bank on it staying that way), then hard disk recording is essential so you can skip the ads.
Also, hard disk recorders have WAY better UIs than all the streaming services.
I pray that I die before broadcast TV does.
(MythTV happens to be my DVR of choice, but others are available).

I zone out when the ads come on so they really don't bother me. Certainly not enough to warrant me buying a recording device simply for this purpose.

Yes the tv at the cottage we are staying at has it built in, we just started using it to watch all the terrestrial channels but found access to a lot more stuff, also the streaming app. I think it’s decent.

I can’t stand having to do the dance every 18 months with Sky but it seems the only way to get a fair deal. I expect they will come back to you in a few days.

Being unable to skip through the adverts is the reason I haven't upgraded my Virgin Tivo box to the 360 bos they are pushing.
It also a reason I dont have Prime now, the bloody adverts.

So far as I see it only offers what you get through FreeView but also on has demand.

Useful if you want a TV in room without an aerial, and you can’t be bothered installing all the channel provider apps.
