The Masters 2026

And? It absolutely should've been but Rory decided to keep it interesting for us, which was nice of him.

I was a stat that said Scottie was the first man to go bogey-free on the weekend since 1942! Unbelievable! Just needed a couple more putts to drop and it would've been his.

I think we will have another grand slam winner this year. The man is relentless the only thing that stops him getting 10+ is if his ankles shatter

Have a word with yourself, and grow up..honestly, don’t judge everyone else by your own one-eyed blinkered view of life 🤪

If it’s not bitterness what is it then when looking to discredit the win 🤷‍♂️

The aim of the game is to put the ball in the hole , he did that in less shots than everyone else who was playing the same course than him

I might be in a minority but I thought that the very high drone shots of the course, whilst interesting, didn’t present us with it’s best face (that’s me being kind)…in fact I thought the trees and it all looked rather sparse (as a result of the damaging storm?) and you saw where the crowds had battered the ground fairly bare. You also saw how small the Augusta ‘plot’ is…with holes, especially the greens and tees, on top of each other.

…well yes - but only assuming that Rory, Justin and Young scored as they did 😉

Rory won his two Masters after the damage by that massive storm before the ‘25 Masters where they lost all of those trees — he missed so many fairways this week and he wasn’t penalised for it like he once would have been - and SHOULD be, when one is so wayward…

His lack of driving accuracy yet his ultimate success doesn’t, honestly, reflect well on the supposed greatest Major
Did you forget /s ?

Totally understand it’s the same for everyone 👍🏻

But IMO no one who’s stats are near the very bottom of driving accuracy should be winning the thing 🤷🏻‍♂️

Rory is THE bomber. His distance IS a skill. But IMO the best course in the world should test all parts of this game

Rory took advantage of the privilege of being able to skip tournaments and go and play Augusta multiple times in the run up to the tournament - I’d imagine that helped him massively…

In that regard, it isn’t the same for everyone as others have said regarding the course conditions - Rory will have scoped out a lot of the positions that others hadn't had chance to.

I suspect anyone that can take advantage of multiple practice rounds instead of playing tournaments next year, will follow Mcilroy’s lead.

Anyone who has qualified for the Masters can play as many times as they want for practice

Not sure why some need to find a way to belittle and tear strips of someone’s achievement

Not many win the Masters , let alone back to back

How about let’s just say it was a well deserved victory

So he prepared better than the others...is that what you are saying?

I agree with you wholeheartedly.
Anyone who thinks this was won by some fluke or injustice needs to look at the effort and planning Rory has put in to this event.

Hopefully other players take a leaf out of his book and try to take the majors more seriously and they might with a bit more foresight and preparation be able to call themselves a multiple major winner.
I hope it catches on to make these events more competitive and hopefully gets named after him.
I’m not going to the range anymore or for a knock with my mates I’m going”for a Rory”.
Hopefully his greatness gets recognised and I don’t think it will be long until we are calling him Sir Rory

If anyone wants a laugh before you delete the Masters app for another year, have a watch of Haotong Li playing the 13th yesterday. 'One of us! One of us!'

He is a great character hope he keeps playing well. I thought he was just a chinese robot athlete when he was up against Rory in Dubai 6 or 7 years ago. then his English has got better and he's absolutely hilarious

His shot on 15 or 13 yesterday when he stone cold thins the tits out of it into the creek was unreal too

Just shows how slow modern golf has become - four and half hours for a 2 ball.
I think it has always been like that for Pro tournaments. The time taken to assess shots ( with caddy advice), and looking at putts from all angles. The care taken is understandable.
Imagine the club weekly comps taking the same care😳
So, , do you want them to go faster without the assessment?
And it’s not as though there is a buggy fourball behind having to get home in time for lunch,is it?

This obsession with “slow play” …..
It’s being pushed at our Seniors competition at the moment, and it’s out of order.
Seniors are seniors, I.e. we’re bloody old, and some are decrepit 😀.
The irony is, the youngsters behind are mostly in club buggies . Most of us are walking…….sort of,!

But with the caveat that he had some privileged position that enabled him to do so?

Didnt others ( Scheffler, Rose, Young, Morikawa etc) have that same opportunity? Were they unable to skip tournaments? Were they not able to play multiple practice rounds?

Yes they did, and I’m sure they’ll be actively looking to do the same as Rory next year.
However, it’s not something that all players competing in The Masters would be able to do, especially given Rory said he was taking a private jet each day around the school run - so he’s part of the privileged group that have the time, resources and status to take advantage.

So, you are saying McIlroy also needs to prepare for golf AND have a family life? Does that mean he is in a less privileged position than golfers with no kids?

Let's not pretend that ALL the top golfers at the Masters, or indeed ALL the professionals playing there, are not "privileged". Not many of them are earning £25,000 a year and having to balance golf and taxi driving
