Having seen them pop up from time to time has had me thinking who are these mythical creatures? I understand there roll on here, and let's get one thing clear, without them this site would not be still up and running. But who are they? Do they have set shifts? Are they paid for there services? If so how much? (Because the time I spend on here I could earn a fortune!)What happens if they go the loo and world war 3 breaks out? Do they get together for a Christmas night out and just hope no-one notices there not online and cause mischief? Are some more lenient than others? Does the power get to them? I mean it must be very stressful reading through the drivel that I and others post and knowing you can block them with one swipe of a button. And one final question..? Am I going to get thrown off the site for even thinking such things, let alone creating a thread about them. Best to keep your replies civil :D oh, and do you think I have too much time on my hands? The weather best change soon.....

I can answer this as I was one for 5 years. There is no pay, loads of grief but we did it because someone had to. Originally it vwas easy, just banning spammers and dealing with the odd post when we had some extreme trolling and some libelous views expressed. As the forum grew it became harder and harder to do as more and more squabbles arose and people decided that mod bashing was a good idea. There are no shifts, there just tended to be one of us on here at most times. When we were not on we rely on people reporting posts and then we dealt with them. We have an area of the forum only visible to mods where we discussed issues and decided on actions to take.

So there you go, that is modding. There is no pay, little reward, loads of grief but it has to be done. It is of no real credit to me that I found it too much hassle and quit last year so massive thumbs up to those still doing it.

when mods are viewed as mythical creatures popping up from time to time then they are doing a good job :)

I believe they dont get paid in monies but more in the way of a days all inclusive golf at a top rated course with free range balls, lunch and evening meal all paid for by GM ;)

(I tried there mods, I tried)

No set times for us to be on here and we all do it for nothing more than the fun ( ) of it. Surprisingly (for some) most of the decisions (at a guess 90% +) are made in a committee, we have an area of the forum that is only accessible to us and the GM staff members. As for some being more lenient then yes as in all walks of life their are differences of opinion but when a decision is made is it usually after most agree, sometimes though things need to be referred to GM and specifically Mike Harris.

Hope that helps and if there are any more (serious) questions ;) ask away and I am sure one of us will answer to the best of our abilities!

I don't think your going to get chucked off but I recon your going to get your post moved.....:)

you are correct lol

As and for the life of a mod, we do not get paid, it is done voluntarily, we do not specifically work shifts, however i do work night shift, therefore am on here to monitor the stuff at night time specifically, although i think in the 15 months i have been a moderator i have only had to action upon 3 members in that time.

Night times are the quiet times thankfully lol

The guidelines that we follow are set out by GM and ultimately MikeH the editor, we tend to only action on reported posts made by other members, and generally unless it is considered severe will only take action after we have assessed things within the group.

Being that we are spread over the 4 countries of the Uk and Republic of Ireland we do not meet up for a Xmas Dinner lol,

Whens the free golf day? Why was I not invited? lol

You know when you ask a question, you get a perfectly acceptable answer but you wish you hadn't asked because it completely dispelled all notion you had on the subject? Well that's where I'm at right now! I'm respectfully going to disregard all answers and return to my mythical creature thoughts on the subject...
