I'm following a young lady via Twitter called Charlie Douglass who is going onto the Ladies European Tour http://www.charliedouglass.com or @CharlieDouglass on Twitter (worth a look).
There is less coverage, less money and arguable a bigger outgoing to prize money ratio as fares hotels cost the same and less money further down the field so do you think rookies on that tour have a harder time keeping their card compared with the men. Her season starts in Morroco and the Euro prize fund is only 325000 for the field
How come the US tour and other sports such as tennis etc seem to attract decent sponsorship and prize funds and the European tour doesn't. Is it purely down to a lack of TV coverage and if so wouldn't you have thought the tour would have looked at something like Eurosport as a broadcasting partner?
I'm looking forward to seeing how she gets on. It'll be tough but I've not idea what the magic number will be to retain her card.
