was working down hertfordshire today and drove past the grove did a quick u turn and had a look round, the holes you could see looked stunning especially the greens, enquired what the the green fees were, and after i picked myself up of the floor decided that id better start saving, just looked on the website and they do a twilight offer of a mere £95 , it looks a cracking course, has anyone played it and is it worth the money ????

Played it - yes

Worth the money - yes to play it once if you want a "trophy" course to your name and/or bragging rights

If not - no, go play 2 or 3 rounds somewhere else for the same money.

Sorry but I don't see how a game of golf can be worth £95. It's still played on grass and the hole is the same size. With my open fairways card I could have 6 games for that price.

You do not get any better quality fairways and greens.

It sounds a lot, but compared to the £200+ at some exclusive places i think its value for money. The service is great, free balls on the range and course guide as well nice bag tag. They do winter offers for the same price which includes a meal, bacon roll, coffee and its just as good as summer condition.
I would love to have another bash round there
Give it a go!

I have played it about five times on a twilight. So about 90£. Have always enjoyed it.

Sometimes you need to look beyond the green fee.

I played east Brighton back in feb. 17£ green fee. Cracking value. Had a really nice day. That said, I spent over 60£ on diesel. Not so cheap then.

I live opposite the gates to the grove. It costs me about 50p to get there. At that point, for the quality of the course, it isn't that bad value.

I'm playing it with pieman fairly soon. I'm looking forward to it.

I have played beau desert, the belfry, goswick, blackmoor, all at cracking deals, but it is the travel that makes the bill, not the green fee.

I would agree with this wholeheartedly.

Had a cracking weekend at Blackmoor last week but all included the weekend cost me nearly £300 quid once everything was taken into account. Totally worth it though as it was a great craic and met some top blokes and caught up with guys I'd met before.
