My only punt on the horses each year - anyone got any tips?

Looking to redeem my modest losses from the Masters and have £10 in my PP account to spend.

Cheers fellas

having watched this afternoons race there will be less of a premium on jumping, Bechers Brook looked more like a hurdle. ground is currently firmer than most would like, be interesting to see how much water goes on before saturday

Ooooh not even had a good look at the runners yet! Will have a chat with the father in law, he is in aintree all week for it... Mrs side of the family like the gee gees a bit ;-)

Picked out The midnight club (last years dissapointing favourite) and Killyglen (fell about 4 out when looking promising)

Pretty happy with these two to be fair but it's a lottery

Special day for me, booked the day off, my late dad used to love the national,so always try to have the day with my mum and family and watch the race, think between us we do every horse in the field lol, normally do the favourite, but this year fancying Wierd Al and Calgary Bay

I won't bet on horses or dogs. I was listening to 5live the other day and there was a bit about the National and it led to euthanasing horses after a fall and bad breaks etc. The point made by Clare Balding was that it really is the best option because injuries lead to worse things etc etc. One of the other pundits remarked that when Muamba collapsed on the pitch the other week and if he hadn't survived football would carry on and that when Marco Simoncelli died in a motorbike race last year that motor sport goes on etc. That's a fine analogy BUT Simoncelli and Muamba chose to be there at those times.

If someone asked you "Hey on Saturday afternoon you fancy sprinting 5 miles carrying an extra 20% in weight whilst jumping over a shootload of fences that are taller than you? Oh yeah if you fall over we might have to kill you" What would you say? I know I wouldn't do it, so why expect a horse to?

but surely racehorses wouldnt exist at all if there wasnt any racing!
its a bit like vegetarians saying they are saving cows and sheep - but again - if we were all veggies there would be no cows!!
