The Four Major Trophies (Which One)

The OP asked which Trophy you'd rather win which I think was intended literally, rather than being just another "which is the best" major thread.

I have always thought the Claret Jug, though iconic, is but a bit small. USPGA is too big. Masters trophy is actually a replica of the club house in silver which is quite cool. It was introduced in 1961.

Bit small.

That's better.

US Open is a classic looking trophy with lots of history.

Ummmm...Claret Jug! :)

Am I getting this wrong, or was the question about the trophies, rather than the tournament...?

I quite fancy the idea of winning the Wannamaker Trohpy, just because it's so massive, but the Claret Jug is so iconic, it would have to be that.

The Green Jacket is devalued in that sense, I think, because guys who haven't won the Masters (i.e. Augusta members) have them too.

Non of the major trophies appeal to me, to be honest. If I had to choose a trophy from the majors it would be:

As I said. non of the major trophies appeal to my taste. I much prefer this:

If its about purely the best looking trophy then The Masters has it with its replica of the clubhouse and green jacket to go with it as you get the champions dinner every year after it.

If were talking best major and in order of what id like to win then:

1.US PGA (Best of all the fields and the comp that got me properly into golf)
2.US OPEN (toughest test of golf and mental strength Imo)
3.MASTERS (for all the pomp and subsequent ceremony year on year)
4. THE OPEN (its the one that I find least interesting even having been to one it just doesn't float my boat regardless of its history)

Just my opinion though.

The Claret Jug
Wimbledon Men's Singles
The European Cup
Calcutta Cup

By that reasoning the Masters is the worst field and least prestigious then???

Correct. It's a mickey mouse invitational event attended by a select fortunate few run by a load of old fogeys who think they are bigger than the game itself.

Fantastic spectacle to watch but no way should it be a Major.

4. THE OPEN (its the one that I find least interesting even having been to one it just doesn't float my boat regardless of its history)

Just my opinion though.

If they played it at Nizels would you change your mind??:D

I'd take either the open or the US open, the other two are Mickey Mouse as per d4s assessment:whistle:
