I agree. Carrick does well, the Club have a headache, especially if they have their heart set on a big name coming in this summer. It didn't work so well when Ole was brought in as caretaker, did well and then was prematurely promoted to long terms manager. That’s kind of my point feels like a false economy to keep doing the temp manager thing as you get the inevitable upturn in results with players coming back. Fairly decent finish so he gets long term contract more is spent on new players only to rinse and repeat especially if those above are putting their finger in the pie making decision about who is to be signed rather than faith in the manager.
Only for it to not work out, club not move forward and then start the same cycle again. Realistically I can’t see any signings coming in this month as I’ve mentioned above who’d want to with so much uncertainty so Carrick is going to have to rely on the same poor midfield as Amorim and Ten Haag did.
At the same time, they have already got rid of Amorim, and if they do have a big name in mind, they probably are aware they cannot get that manager right now. They rushed Amorim in half a season before he wanted to, and that ended up not working so well. So, I can see their logic of trying to bring someone in until the summer, and then working it out from there.
But, the best solution would probably have been to simply keep Amorim in position, and let things continue as they were. Behind the scenes work out what they are going to do from next summer, and if they want rid of Amorim, do it at the end of the season, and get your next full time manager then. Sadly, their knee jerk reaction has caused this mess, and so now we are discussing potential solutions and scenarios to try and get through this period of instability, largely self inflicted.
