They keep saying that the PL has a 5cm tolerance, unlike in Europe, which may explain why he was offside but it was allowed.

However, there were 2 or 3 other goals that were disallowed for offside this weekend, that looked closer to being onside than Wirtz.

It is occasions like this that make it difficult for some to accept the accuracy of the tech. I wonder if they were using the same freeze frame as was shown on Sky?

Who would you like to see as the new manager?

I can’t think of many top managers available

I really don't know.
Definitely NOT Mourinho, Ange, Southgate or Rosenior.
If I had to choose right now I'd possibly have a look at Glasner as I really don't know who else is available.

Wonder if they go with a caretaker until the summer?

I think Glasner is a good shout but is he high profile enough.

I wonder if they could tempt Emery?

After the Maresca type outburst yesterday I'm not surprised

He’s talked himself into it.

Have to say I’m really disappointed. I genuinely like the guy, and despite the struggles things are slowly starting to turn round. Very slowly, I accept, but there have been signs.

I have particularly liked the way he has dealt with trouble makers. The club has needed that and the next appointment, whoever it is, MUST adopt a similar stance with the prima donnas who think they are bigger than the club.

A very likeable straight talker. But his straight talking has cost him.

Joke of a decision, unless they have some mega brilliant manager to come in and replace him. I wonder what the compensation package is?

There were signs of improvement over the last few months, and it seemed clear what areas on the pitch needed improving. I was hoping they had a plan over the next few windows to build on that. To sack him now, when the best player he had available on the bench, by a million miles, was Zirkzee, is odd. Perhaps Amorim's patience had grown thin, realising the mess the club had got itself in for many years before he arrived. After all, we have 4 big players that should be assets out on loan (Rashford, Hojlund, Onana and Sancho), who turned into huge liabilities. It'll take years to address the issues on the balance sheet, and try and build a solid, consistent team. Not one or two summer transfer windows.

In my opinion, I'd have always kept ETH, because I felt he was far from the problem at the club. But media and fans love to personalise the problems, and so it is easy to bash the manager over the head all the time. There is no use battering the board, as they never speak. And players can hide behind their team mates and manager more easily. But, since they did get rid of ETH, I'd have thought the board would have had a plan to work with Amorim and his style of football. Turns out, they just thought it was a good PR stunt to hire a hipster manager at the time, without actually working out with him a good plan in rebuilding the squad.

Amorim has been sacked!
Just when I thought Chelsea had taken our 'Joke Club' title, but no, we've wrestled it back again!

I listened to his comments at the end of his last press conference. I didn’t think it was much of a rant, more just about stating his position. Honestly, he came across as a strong character, which surely every supporter would want. Obviously we don’t know what’s been going on behind closed doors, and I guess things have been more fractured.

Is it not that his rigidity to a particular style of play has cost him? No matter how badly it was working, he refused to change. You became fairly simple to play against because people knew what was coming, whilst also not really having the players in key positions to pull it off.

You have to question the recruitment on this one, they clearly knew what they were getting yet went for it anyway.

As an outsider, I agree that he dealt with problem players well, but the progress has been very slow, too slow for the owners.

My guess is that he's been told to keep playing with a back four, which he clearly wouldn't do.
That, possibly, is one of the issues as he wanted to be the manager, not merely a coach, and didn't accept being told what to do regarding managing the team.

I sometimes think it’s the media that hypes the fans, which the board react to. Some sackings seem early, this being one of them.
