Did a bit of analysis on Chelsea’s results/fixtures.
The highest league position of any team we’ve beaten this year is Liverpool, in 9th.
We haven’t played away from home against any of the other top 9 sides.
4 of our 7 wins are against the bottom 4 (Ange’s Forest, Wolves, West Ham and Burnley).
The 4 teams we haven’t played are City, Newcastle, Everton and Villa. 3 in the top 6, and Newcastle in 11th.
My conclusion: sack Maresca (well, do it in January).
We’re likely to be bottom half by January and our league position is mostly due to having outrageously easy fixtures.
Can’t be a penalty as the ball is dead
Anyone know why Rodgers was booked and why it wasn’t a penalty ?
Ah they said the ball was just played for the second oneCan’t be a penalty as the ball is dead
Didn’t see game only clip that u posted. In the games I see albeit not premier league, both tend to get booked not just the aggressor. I would like to see a rule change in that penalties can be issued in these circumstances even though ball is dead. It’s now at corners and free kicks, there is more emphasis on stopping a player than defending and playing the ball.Ah they said the ball was just played for the second one
But no idea why he booked Rodgers
But apart from that you were satisfied with the performance? As I said previously, sack Maresca. Another appalling result for us this evening and it’s put me in a foul mood.
He should be sacked for playing Badiashile alone.
The lack of response to Villa’s triple substitution was painful.
Pulling Cole Palmer was bemusing.
The lack of game time for Acheampong and Estevao is beyond belief. It shows he doesn’t place any merit on performances, or have the balls to play them over a “senior” player.
He doesn’t have a clue. One of the worst managers at team selections and substitutions I can recall at Chelsea, he simply gets it wrong every time. I can’t remember a single time he’s got it right with personnel.
It’s formulaic dross. Unbearable to watch. We throw away leads like confetti, we don’t ever kill a game, and we deteriorate into chaos in the 2nd half.
This started to be very common in the women’s game with Arsenal and seems to have now carried overThere will come a game, when every 5-10 minutes, goalkeepers from either side will continually get "injured", and coaches will speak to rest of team. The half time talk will be less important, as teams will have unlimited timeouts
When Ramsdale did it the other night, I half expected Lammens to get "injured" 10 mins later, when Newcastle's tactical change shifted the momentum
wasn’t entirely sure how this wasn’t given as a handball, am I missing something? The ball had travelled about 40 yards in the air, and no one deflected the ball.
I’m not sure anyone could tell us the handball rule.I’m no expert on the handball rule these days but I’m given to understand that if a player is facing away from it when it happens (or in this case looking down and with two other players around him), then it isn’t a handball. Personally think that would have been incredibly harsh had it been given.
The biggest injustice in that game was Rogers being given a yellow card for being mauled by James.
