Imagine you are Fulham and you hear that you are about to make your record signing from Brazil.

The club shop stocks up on letters I,N,H and O in anticipation of vast shirt sales....

...and the players name is announced as.....KEVIN.

What are they going to do with all of those H's and O's ?

On his shirt they all put OH .................... KEVIN.

The player who scored was the same one (Rutter) whose arm it hit, his initial shot from the ball hitting his arm was saved by the keeper, the ball was then played back to him by a team mate and then he scored.

It was found accidental handball and him scoring didn’t change it as it deemed another phase of play.😵‍💫
The ball never left the six yd box so how it can be another phase of play is a bit surprising.

But nothing shocks me anymore with VAR 😳

It doesn't have to be another phase of play. It was simply considered an accidental handball that should not be penalised, in the same way a defender wouldn't be penalised by giving a penalty.

But only recently an accidental handball was penalised because the ball went into the goal. See post 90037 etc
So, no goal, foul for handball. Apparently, no foul if it hadn’t gone into the goal directly.
And it was clearly accidental .
Game is a mess.

Yes, and that part of the rule is a joke, and has been discussed a lot in here.

But, as the rule is, accidental handball isnt a free kick if that player doesn't score just after that incident, but it is a free kick if that player does score

Thus, no free kick was given and why VAR rightly didnt intervene after the goal.

Spot on. Sadly, many United fans like my kids are too young to remember Ronaldo MK1. They only saw the second instalment. So you can imagine what they think of him.

As for me, in my eyes his legacy was significantly tainted by his behaviour towards the end of his days at the club.

Come on, he was proved right! Everything he said was true and he was made a scapegoat. When he left the free flowing football didn't suddenly appear and you've lacked a striker ever since. I'd argue his legacy as a footballer was actually improved as he came back to the top league and still got 24 goals in the PL and CL combined aged 36/37.

I disagree. Utd looked like their team was shaping up into something half decent. He came in and it almost fell off a cliff. And we’ve seen the same thing in the national side. As good as he can be, the team plays better without him.

So it’s acceptable to give an interview to Piers Morgan, whilst still under contract to a football club, and publicly say you have no respect for the manager?

I don’t give two hoots what Ronaldo did on the pitch. That’s just indefensible. Unless, of course, those defending it have an agenda.

It was explained in a PGMOL statement after the game that as Areola saved the shot and then there was a touch by Van Hecke it reset the attacking accidental handball.

The team was going nowhere let's be honest. If it was, why did Rashford, Sancho and Martial all end up doing nothing over the last 3 years? Rashford was the only one who did anything in 22/23.

Ronaldo was the wrong signing but to dismiss his achievements is wrong IMO. What other player that age has got those returns?

That's a loaded question but ETH had already bombed him out and was acting in a spiteful way. Ronaldo wanted to leave in the summer of 2022 after Utd missed out on the CL, he was forced to stay. ETH had the choice to let him go and bottled it. There was then a poor 4-5 months where he used Ronaldo as a pawn to give himself power. It resulted in a really embarrassing interview for everyone but in hinsight, it was just a reflection on how badly the club was run.

Utd fans still sing Ronaldo songs, do they sing ETH songs? I rest my case ;)

Like I said, “I disagree.”

As for what he achieved during his second stint, Ravenelli was the Prem’s top scorer with 31(?) goals when he played for Middlesbrough. Boro got relegated that season. To watch him lose it with his strike partner time and time again… he was disruptive, frustrating and affected the confidence of his strike partner. Ronaldo disrupted that Utd team, and his performance doesn’t excuse that.
