😳 Curacao get a draw against Jamaica and are going to the World Cup. Steve McLaren’s has resigned. However Jamaica have got another shot at qualifying through playoffs, although it is a tough ask. But McLaren’s won’t manage them through the play offs 😳

McLaren missing out on a major tournament? I guess he didn't need a brolly out in the Caribbean at least 😅

Yes shocking decision to send a lad off for that.
What was the linesmen doing.
I thought it was a yellow card when it happened live, as it looked like a classic case of an attacker beating a defender, and the defender desperately trying to block him. When I saw the first replay, I realised it was defintiely not a yellow card, and the defender did everything to keep his hands down.

I suspect the referee would never have given a yellow if he was allowed to make the decision after seeing the replay. But, I can forgive him for giving the yellow by using his instict when it happened live.

Saw some good footage of the two incidents. The first I thought was a foul, but not a penalty. The second I thought was a foul but not a yellow so now a red.
Now the thing that puzzles me. Once more VAR is killing football.
I would love to see the “ rules” and explanation re why it was a penalty. Irrespective of opinion, what was the actual ruling as to why it was a penalty.
Re the second, for me this is why I feel it is more than harsh. At the same time frame in any other game. I have seen the same
“ booking” given at that time in a game. Yet in the first half, the same “ foul” has been waved away. So why does he instantly give a yellow card. Which means a red. Does VAR not allow the ref to look at the screen and think hang on, from a small contact, the Scottish players has become paralysed from the hips down and his legs went in an unorthodox way. Bottom line he has conned me.
The implementation of VAR rules in this instance is a classic case of the “ tail is wagging the dog.”. The Scottish player knew exactly what he is doing, as did his team mates. But in this instance, if a red card can be looked at, then so should a 2nd yellow ( which means a red) be looked at.

1. It was a penalty because the ref gave a foul and var determined it was in the box and asked the ref to check

2. As is always explained - VAR doesn’t intervene on second yellow offences

Oh don't worry! the competition makes it cheaper for the end consumer!

At rhe moment I believe Paramount Plus comes free with a certain Sky package ( movie and sports ) - also comes with some packages of Amazon Prime as well

If they make it standalone I don’t expect it will last long in the UK ( same with the setanta time ) as just CL football isn’t enough for people to get subscription, especially when there are already a number

Its been mooted of a possible buy out of Discovery by Paramount. That would take TNT under the Paramount wing.
