I am surprised that someone like United didn’t go in for Pickford when Everton were in trouble financially a couple of seasons ago.
I think having a dependable keeper like Pickford would have done them a lot of favours but instead they went for Onana. That worked out well

And there it is. The reason not to start watching the world cup until the last week. Most of the people I talk to about it won't be watching until this point.
That for me is a reason to watch the World Cup. I prefer watching the underdog teams, it’s taken them far more to get there and they’ll play with a lot of pride.

Last World Cup alone Saudi beat Argentina, Morocco made the semi finals. But yeah your right people should only watch the boring bigger teams in the later stages!!

I watch every game of the World Cup if possible.
You get to see a few players you never heard of who become a favourite of yours for various reasons.
You get to see some random formations and tactics and there is always a shock or two.
Plus 1 nation always does unexpectedly well.
It’s brilliant

I don’t watch every match but I do watch most. The ones I look to avoid are between teams we’ve often seen playing each other, e.g. Spain ‘v’ France or Italy. I quite like watching the developing countries like the USA & Japan.

I’ll also watch out for countries who have players representing them that also play for the club I support.

I’m much the same to be honest. If the big teams meet each other in the later stages I’ll watch but maybe not in the group games.
Watching Cameroon upset Argentina in 1990 opening game set the tone for what was my favourite ever World Cup.
Not just the result but the way they went about it, ended up with 9 men and kicked anything that moved but also played some beautiful stuff that often gets ignored.
Roger Milla was about 55 but still was one of the top scorers 😂
