Funnily enough Reading seem to be well represented on here.
Myself, richart, Ethan and now another much welcome additon in Lucifer MorningStar.
Unfortunately no one gives a toss about League One so I end up talking to myself in the EFL thread these days![]()
Did you type that from your underground bunker with your tin foil hat on?Oh Christ on a bike. It’s El CAS-ico this weekend and they’ve only gone and put Anthony bloody Taylor in charge for it!
If you’re a gambling man or woman, put all your money on a Palace win. That’s if you can find a bookie still willing to take the bet as most of them have stopped doing so. Taylor is BOUND to be front and centre with a ridiculous, result-altering decision!
The Premier League’s vendetta against big-spending, whippersnappers-who-won’t-accept-their-rightful-place Nottingham Forest continues!!!!!

If reports are true only 1 official bid has been made.
Which makes it even worse, he’s behaving like a petulant child and I hope the move doesn’t happen. Players need to learn they sign contracts they have to stick to them as much as the club does!
Wissa is behaving just as badly at Brentford right now, yet the irony of Sancho he’s refusing to move for less
Money. So we have 2 players throwing their toys out trying to childishly do all they can to engineer a move despite having contracts and that the clubs need to keep because they don’t have replacements. Then we have a major club and its fans kicking off because a player is digging his heals in and saying. Low I have a contract you will honour it if I can’t get the same elsewhere
Top level football has itself, poor contract negotiations, selfish players and agents to thank for its own self destruction whilst fans suffer!! The there’s is lowly EFL clubs just happy to still be in business![]()
Yeah he won the Ballon D’Or……. Oh no wait…………Did Mo Salah win anything at the PFA awards last night? Been reading through this thread and not sure if he did.![]()
It’s a tough one isn’t it, in terms of the Isak and Wissa deals it’s 100% down to the players attitude, being poorly advised, a woe is me outlook and petulance that they think employment contracts don’t apply to them. There is a lot in what you say
Fingers get pointed at players when they try anything to get a transfer out of the club.
And then fingers are pointed at players who looked to stay to honour the contract they were given but fans want them out
Can it be both ways
Not a fan of what Isak is doing and I suspect he will get his move at some point to us and whilst he is top class player it doesn’t sit great , but it will all be forgotten when he starts scoring goals , same if he stayed and started scoring or if Sancho got on the pitch and scored etc
Weirdly I have a soft spot for Forest, growing up seeing players like Pearce and Walker unreal defenders, Collymore and Roy what a Front 2 that was. Loved seeing Forest do well last year and hoping they can do something in Europe this year.I’ve said it before but I have a soft spot for Reading and would love to see them back in the Champ at least. Not sure the exact seasons, but that team of around 2005-2008 was brilliant.
How’s it looking under your new owner in terms of off-field matters?

With the Sancho one , for me it’s more on the club say 70-30, because at the end of the day he’s entitled to see out his contract that the club offered him and it’s legally binding. If anyone of us were told by our employer we don’t want you then they either need to find a way to sack us for not doing our jobs, make us redundant (pay us off) or put us on gardening leave continuing to pay us. That’s pretty much all he’s doing, is he snake for doing so! Debatable, Utd and some other fans will say he is scum of the earth stealing a wage etc but ultimately his employer set the terms of his salary and length of his contract why should he not hold them to account the same way Newcastle and Brentford are trying to do to their players.
You really can’t have it both ways and we as fans need to learn that whilst we support the club. The players are merely employees subject to contract laws and if someone wants to earn what they’re legally entitled to as per that contract that’s the clubs fault for not better negotiating terms.

I think in this day and age people need to be more grown up. Promises aren’t binding and whether they’re made or not, or broken the man should have character to appreciate he’s being paid handsomely to do a job and stop being childish as like you say it’s no excuse for his behaviour. My employer always breaks promises to me, different industry and can’t be helped due to its nature but still we have to suck it up move on and get on with work. When it comes to Isak then someone is not telling the truth
Isak is saying the club made promises to him and the club saying they didn’t - it’s quite bold in some to go public and make those claims
They may not be contractually binding but it’s not going to look good to players if a club is breaking promises
That doesn’t excuse his behaviour though
Look at Eze and Guehi - both looking to leave but still performing for Palace
I suspect we will prob see it all move next week - Wissa will get the deal done and Isak will prob move - don’t expect to see Isak in a Newcastle shirt again
I'll take one for Phil here... I really don't like it. but I'm not going to get on a high horse - if he comes in I'll support him in red. yes, hypocritical, but frankly he's a phenomenal player and I'd love him at the club.Out of interest as a Liverpool supporter how does Isak behaviour sit with your fans. If it was me I wouldn’t want a player like that signing for my club, if they’re willing to act like that to the club that’s already afforded them an break into the EPL, paid them well for it and had fans adore them it wouldn’t sit right with me knowing that’s their attitude and could happen again when a bigger big say RM or Barca come in down the line.

You’ve nailed it with Eze and Guehi 2
Players hugely sought after and behaviour is impeccable, still going out doing a bloody good job and respecting both the club and its fan base.

In Spain they do, but they can just set it to £400m or something daft so not sure if it helps at all.You will have those that don’t care , they see what Suarez and Coutinho did and seem to think it doesn’t matter what the player does if he is good
There will be those that just don’t like what he is doing , it’s not right and don’t want to see a player arrive that way
If he arrives then he will be supported etc but doesn’t feel right imo
For me this is why all contracts should have a release clause in them

As for the mighty Reading, I think you’re referring to the 2006/2007 premier league team. Phenomenal team Nicky Shorey, Steve Sidwell plus some other good payers but the front 3 of Leroy Lita, Shane Long and Dave Kitson. That was some team we had then shame we couldn’t do more with them.
Off field it’s looking better, steps are being taken to go in the right direction, players and fans are a lot happier. There’s a lot more community involvement in bringing the club back to fans with , meet and greets, events being put in the local
Area and more social media engagement. Owner is saying the right things and seems to genuinely want to build us back up the right way.
Got some good players but we’re still short up top and manager needs to figure out what tactics he’s trying to and stick to them otherwise his tenure will be short lived. Hopefully we can get settled this month and build as the season goes on try to slip into the play off spots. I’d love to be back in the Championship.

Big Shak was class every kid wanted a goalie shirt when we had him.Good to hear.
Going back even further I remember the days of Jimmy Quinn and Shaka Hislop ("Shaka for England"!) under Mark McGhee and the heartbreak of losing out to Bolton in the playoffs for the Prem. Doubly harsh, when you consider Reading finished second that season but had to go through the playoffs because it was the season when the PL reduced their numbers and only two teams went up.
Good luck to them, hope you can get promotion soon, if not this year.
I hope they don’t make another one tbh.How many bids have Liverpool actually made?
