True, that was another mistake I would say - after losing the Champion's League final we didn't bring anyone in that really strengthened the team.

I don't think I'd start him, but he's a handy player to chuck on when you need a goal as he will get into the box regularly.It might mostly be a Social Media echo chamber but I know (in real life) of two spurs fans who think he's an absolute waste of space and shouldn't be in the squad at all.

Yea, that's reasonable. He suffered from overthinking when he was at forest and played his best when he just played on instinct, which is what he's done more of at Spurs (probably because the quality he's had around him (Son et al) has helped. A good option to go against tired legs when you're looking for a goal, for sure.

I've heard these rumours about a smaller fee could be accepted under a release clause if it was from a "special club". No idea if this is true, or even how it is defined. Were these clubs listed when the contract was made, or can the player just decide which clubs he thinks are special (doubt it, because then it is pointless, he could just consider any club as special if he wants to leave)

His career at Chelsea hasn't seemed to dissimilar to Sancho's career at Man Utd. Signed by a club for a crazy salary, and then that club quickly realising it was a big mistake. At least Sterling managed to give his club and international football a decent return up until the age of 27, rather than Sancho bombing out at 21.

Still two years left on a contract that's worth,allegedly, £325k pw. It's downhill for him now wherever he goes, England chances gone. I'd sit pretty and pick up my nigh on £17mill a year

It is shame - prob burnt out after playing so much early doors but his record is pretty good tbf
Multiple trophies won , scored goals at the highest level and did it internationally
The contract at Chelsea has done him - Chelsea will need to pay a big chunk of it for him to go on loan etc
Think a Forest or Everton , Fulham etc will
Be a good fit for him

Feel a bit sorry for all the pelters Stirling now gets. Think a lot of people forget he has been playing first team football since he was 17, he’s won a shed load of trophies, scored a good amount of goals including 27 in the Champions league.
He’s just burnt out and you could see that at Arsenal last year. Chelsea move was for the right reasons it just didn’t pan out. I’m not convinced he has much left in the tank at the very top. Maybe a good signing for Forest or a West Ham but if I was him I’d be looking abroad playing top level in a slower league could do his confidence wonders.

That's spot on. He's had a great career and won pretty much everything. Was exceptional for City and England for a few years too. He was always a pace merchant and when that went he's struggled badly.
