Do the English fans like it the way it is now though?
I don't know, but I imagine most have enjoyed the likes of Henry, Van Nistelroy. Bergkamp. Suarez, De Bryne or any other of the World class players that have played in the PL.
I doubt theres any fans of any of the EFL clubs that wouldnt want at least 1 season in the PL.

I totally agree.
Now let’s say every team in the league starts the season with the same amount.
Would you find that more interesting?
Maybe ,but if a player costing 50mil had Liverpool or Brentford to join I think I know where he will go.
So might not work in the future as the top six will have the pull factor
All teams having the same amount of cash will stop lower clubs catching up.
It would be challenged in court as restricting buisness or something similar!

It’s only a nice idea in reality it wouldn’t be enforceable now.

I’d like to see something similar to what you see in the US with the draft. It’ll never happen as it would be impossible to do it globally.

Back in the day Forest we’re on level playing terms with Liverpool and other top teams winning at the highest level.

So it can only be your bad decisions that you are where you are.

You can’t blame others for their good decisions over that time.

I’m not talking about Forest.

I’m talking about six clubs and everyone else.

Why are fans of those six clubs so reluctant to just admit they have a massive advantage over everyone else? I have absolutely zero issue admitting that my club, by virtue of the fact that we have now been in the Prem for three seasons, have a fundamental advantage over any other club seeking to break into the top flight. It’s just a fact and I’d be stupid to argue otherwise.

So why can’t Protected Six fans do the same with their clubs, relative to everyone else?

And re: “blaming other clubs” I’m not blaming them by the way. I am not attempting to argue that the rules were brought in purely for their benefit. But it just so happens that the point at which they were brought in, certain clubs (whether they had enjoyed success in the preceding years, or had been bankrolled by a Russian gangster in the preceding years) were then set on a pedestal for life.

Some do and some don’t, and when some clubs go against what they have said previously and spent what they have said they will never spend the response from the fans is hilarious. 👍
One could argue the league is now stronger as a top four is now a top six ( including Utd) but that top six should be a top seven inc the spending power of Newcastle. 👍

How many other European leagues have as many teams challenging for top spot?
Look at the rest of Europe, only Italy has more than 1 or 2, and that is really only due to match fixing prosecutions.

What’s a fair system ?

In every sport some clubs are bigger than others - that just fact and yes it’s an advantage to be bigger than others and attract bigger players and better revenue

Some clubs have earned their place amongst the big clubs

It would be interesting but is that what would we want to see

Isak for example going to Sunderland etc

But we also have things like relegation etc - that’s not something that happens in the US

The only way I can think of that’s fair

Every one can spend to the same amount as the club that earns the most - any gap between what the club earns and that is filled by an owner and the debt is on them

Erm…..are you suggesting that Sunderland are the worst team?

I’m not sure that in every sport there exists a set of rules that literally makes it impossible for those big clubs to be realistically challenged.

You were almost there with admitting your team is one of those with the inherent advantage, but you stopped just short! 😉🤣

Anyway, we’ve done this to death before haven’t we Arthur? I’m sure each of us can predict what the other one will say next, so I’m happy to leave it there. 👍

I’m just waiting for at least a “fairer” suggestion

Lots of complaints about being unable to challenge and “protected 4 or 6”

But no actual way to ensure it’s “fair” or “level”

Any advantage Liverpool have has been earned over decades

They built on their success , they have had times when they suffered , they fell behind both on and off the pitch but they have earned where they are now

And it clearly isn’t impossible when multiple clubs have challenged over the decades

All this protected 6 nonsense - Forest spent most of the season challenging the top 4 , Villa , Newcastle up there

I think most fans know big clubs get big decisions
Forest and Everton were harshly treated imo when you look what certain other teams have got away with ( up to now)
But you broke the rules and were punished but I would expect any teams to be treated the same.
But money talks in football always has

Everyone knows footy didn’t exist before the PL started.
But big clubs including mine have a huge advantage over other teams but we have worked for it .

Tash ,do you belive what footy managers say including Klopp.?
Or do you take it with a pinch of salt.?

It’s a buisness and we will do whatever the buisness needs no matter what previous managers have said!

That’s not Liverpools fault or other teams.
It’s the fault of the ones who set the rules.
They are the ones letting clubs get away with 115 charges but punish smaller clubs!
